| Backyard crawler course build thread
I decided to build me some fake rocks to crawl on. It's going to be much larger than what you see now. So far I have 5 trucks of stone and 3 trailers of dirt. I have about .75 acres and this will allow me a large area to build a large crawling course are as well as a u4 track...maybe. So I have laid out stone first. Then dirt over the stone. Next I will ad some more stones on the side and tops. Then I will blend in dirt to make them into random rock shapes. Next I will use concrete over the dirt and shape and mold it into rocks. Lastly I will dye and stain it to look like real rock. I plan on having a canyon of sorts with two random rows. There will be an island and off shoots. I plan to build a large arch rock formation somewhere on the course. In the end I want it have a stream and small retention pond. Money and time will dictate if I ever do the stream down the middle of the canyon. I figure it will take at least 15 more trucks of stone and 20 more trailers of dirt. Each trailer is about 2 yards of dirt. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk Last edited by Motorider; 10-15-2017 at 11:52 AM. |

That's the plan. I've got a cousin with a dump truck for a side hustle that's on the look out for a load of it. | |

Update on the crawler course.... It's been a busy week so far. I have hauled in another 12 yards of dirt and 5 trucks of stone. I'm getting close to final height in some areas. I will have to add more dirt on all areas to fill in around the stone. Here is a few pictures and a few videos for an update. https://youtu.be/T4dMbyZ89kY https://youtu.be/rxX9XXmLE1M Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

I started the framework for the y stone arched I'm installing. I think it's going to turn out good. I just hope I can afford all the Portland that is going to be required. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

Had some scrap window wells to utilize and added an unexpected feature to the course today. I added a tunnel. It will also double as drainage for the course interior. The bottom will be filled with large river rock. It's going to look totally bad ass. So much work and only one set of hands.... It got dark be for I got the last truckload of dirt shoveled off today. I'll get some more pictures of today's progress tomorrow. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

Looking good! Im in escrow and the backyard has an elevated garden bed along the back fence that is perfect for a narrow trail with some obstacles. (Imagine a side scrolling video game like mario bros but with tiny trucks hahaha) There is a stone place just up the street. I taking notes and getting ideas here |

Here is the much needed update. I have added 13 more truck loads of stone and I have now depleted my source. Gonna have to hit the roadsides to get it finished. Here are a few shots. I have my cement mixer now and will be ready to pour some concrete eventually. It will have to warm up though. Can't have it freezing at night. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

That's rad I knew a guy that lives in town, and the city made him remove his. Go figure, said it was a eyesore, and a hazard to the kids in the area. GO FIGURE!!! His land, he pays the taxes, and last time I checked, if it was a "hazard", that would mean someone would be trespassing. At least, that's how I think. |
