| Re: Metal Versus Plastic Axle's?
I have metal axles on multiple rigs, and while they look cool, and provide additional weight, my issue is the cost. If you bend a VP housing, its 129$ for just the housing. If you break the housing on an AR44 its a mere 12 bucks. I also prefer plastic housings because there are far more weight tuning options. My VP axles had to be outfitted with SSD knuckles and weights because thats about all I could do. Plastic allows me to call up our lovely friends at beef tubes and gives me various options of materials, and weight options.

Delrin is extremely slippery, but as far as using what's commonly available - I prefer beef tubes inside plastic axles for most situations, although I do have a set of SSD Diamond Bomber axles waiting to be installed in a rig that will use their Delrin pumpkin skids: |
