Default Goliath BMVII

I'm almost finished with my PTI BMVII build. I need to pay my $20 so I can post pics. If you interested the pics are posted here.

FYI, TC3 differential input shafts drop right into the pti axle housing. I dremmelled a flat spot onto them and slid traxas metal yokes over them. Now, if I can figure out how to get the shafts onto the u-joint without any blood loss.

It's up and running. It sidehills great and climbs very well. I'm slowly adjusting to the limited articulation, but so far I'm very happy with it. The low center of gravity makes up for the loss of articulation. The rest of the build is here:

Great looking truck!

I love the BMVll chassiss, IVe built 3 now and working on my 4th. to get more articulation and pressure at the corners slowly increase the weight in the tires.

Been working with several of them, one at the comp today and it currently has about 4oz of weight at each corner. He is going to up it to 6oz and see how it does

I have mine around 5 oz to start with, waiting on the chassis

I still want it to look a little like the GRC. You can't forget your roots .

Thanks. What is the total weight of one of your wheels? I'm a little weary of adding more mass to the wheels. I'd rather put it near the ends of the axles.

total weight wheel/tire/foams/weights is right at 7.5oz each on the axial bead locks and 10oz each on the rc4wd beadlocks

the axial beadlocks need more weight. Im thinking 9oz at each corner would work out well

Does placing weight near the steering knuckles have the same effect?

yes it would help but be impossible to add enough weight to help at that location, and the farther out the weight the better the performance of the BMVll

What about using thinner wire with less weight in the wheels? My concern would be putting too much stress on the knuckles in the event of a nasty rollover.

Curious about the BMV II chassis... How thick are the metal rods?
