| Poll on best chassis material, Alum, SS, tube
What do you chassis builders recomend for a tube frame for a Super? Going to look like a single seat Comp Crawler Built for fun and comps, needs to not exceed 11 lbs .Excellent climbing, Quick & nimble Super buildup not going cheap on this. Options: 1- 3/16 Stainless .035 wall 2- 3/16 SS .049 wall 3- 1/4 SS .021 Delrin Filled to keep light but strong 4- 1/4 SS .035 wall Like to look scale but Durability is more important My 4 links are looking to be 3/8 & 7/16 Delrin or 1/4 Stainless Obviously it would weird to have links much larger than frame. thanks My buildup link below |

I run 3/16" on my super. Looks scale to me. I accidentally drove over my crawler one day... It barley put a dent in it. The 40 foot drop was unable to penetrate the 3/16" as well. I for one will NEVER build a brake line rig. Stainless steel... now that is over kill. You can't tell me a 1/4" stainless steel chassis is going to be lighter then a solid 3/16" steel. My 2.2 is solid 1/8". Then again, people here don't like me and what works for me won't for you. |

3/16" looks fine for a super. build it out of brake line; give you and your tools a break... make it easy. No one needs their rig to outlast mankind. As for strength; if you build it correctly, you will have no problems with brake line. |
