| R2D & Novak Goat Question.
Hi guys Im going to be getting my self a Ax10 soon and Im planning on running the Novak Goat and R2D in it. Im just wondeing if the R2D will take the power of the Goat or if it will all end with lots of metal shaving. Im going to use it on dirt climbs and steep sharp rocks mainly. Will this be a problem. Thanks Tupers |

I would be hesitant to use the R2 (expecially the disconnect version) on something where lots of wheelspeed is necessary. The disco' has lots of moving parts, not to mention a shaft that is in two pieces. You could do some decent damage if the shaft separates at speed. I would only use the R2D if you participate in competitions. It doesn't serve much purpose if you're just out to have fun. I think you'd be just as happy running either a Stampede or Stealth tranny. And the slipper helps absorb some of the shock on the drivetrain. |

I use that combo. Works well. I really havent had any problems out of the R2D so far. Full speed digs just playing around dont seem to affect it. I will tell you if you use this combo, other stuff is going to break. Get ready. |

I stand corrected... I'm getting ready to install my R2D, but it just didn't seem like it would handle that kind of abuse. Still seems like overkill if you don't plan on competition though

I've run the Goat in a few different trannies, and it's usually the rear axle's pinion, or a driveshaft, that explodes. Haven't had any problems inside the gearbox, even with the all-plastic Pede. And the pinion usually lets go during wheel-hop situations. The LR detection should protect the gearbox. The R2's gears are pretty narrow, but they're steel and well-lubed. I haven't had any problems yet. Last edited by microgoat; 11-02-2007 at 07:37 PM. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I already have a brand new R2 so Im going to try that first. If that goes well I'll get the R2D and a few other bits like 4 link plates and some rock claws. Thanks Tupers |
