| Adding more arch to leaf springs?
Currently, I'm working on my SCX10/Hilux build. I originally purchased some of Chino Miltary leafs from Rpphobby. In bare form mounted on a bodiless/electronicless chassis they were just too stiff. So I bought some of the RC4WD red super soft springs. THey had more arch and were flexier. They seemed like they would work great. The military wraps were rather flat and had very little arch. After getting some tube work done on the chassis by DMG, the red springs just aren't up to the task. I'd like to run the miltary leafs, but they'll need more arch. Is this something I should try to do? And if so how? Other than just bending them by hand? |

i didn't have to add arch, but i did have to take out some arch. i found that if you trace them out on paper first so that you have a reference arch to start with, then you can just work them by hand in a small vise little by little. i had to do the whole set on crunk rock. one thing to be careful for is when you flatten them out the distance from eye to eye increases. so as you add arch, that eye to eye distance will decrease. here is a link to my thread... Crunk Rock are you sure they need more arch, or will lift blocks between the leafs and the axle do the trick ? |

THanks Crunky, that's a good tip with tracing them out. That's exactly what I want to do is decrease the eye to eye distance to match the RC4wd red springs. |
