| JK mirror fix and a little scale extra.
Alright guys here is a little fix I did on my JK after rolling it and busting the mirrors off. It is a cool little scale addative too. Well you see here it wasn't a clean brake. So I sanded down the jagged spots as good as I can. Drilled a small hole in each broken piece. And put a couple wheel hex pins in the mirror side. Held in with a dab of CA glue. And also on the bottom of the pin in the mount to make sure they wouldn't back out. I let the glue dry for a few min. Laid some painters tape over the shiny part of the mirror. And cut off any excess tape with an exacto knife. Now I put a fresh coat of primer on them to clean up any white spots from plastic bending. Now they are assembled and ready to go back on the jeep. alright all mounted up and ready for action. Just a couple cool shots. Well that is my first tech post ever. Let me know what you think guys. I like it. I have glued my drivers side mirror on my JK twice now and it's still a shelf queen. Thanks for posting this little mod. |

I like it nice and simple. Could still break though. I was wondering about using rubber tube like I have seen others do, but I like the folding mirrors. They should fold before they break I imagine.

| I had a comp last Sunday. And they worked flawlessly. I rolled a few times and they stayed in. Now just need to figure everything else out on it.

I did something similar when my mirrors broke. I drilled a hole all the way thru the mirror and ran a screw thru it to fasten it to a rod end with a lock nut so I can tighen it just enough to allow the mirror to pivot. I did it this way for more strength, it will be harder to break the mirror from the rod end. Last edited by markturbo; 03-09-2011 at 06:54 AM. |

I did kinda the same but i popped out the mirror and then drilled a hole through the bottom side of the mirror. Then i put a nut that would fit inside and behinde the mirror lens and put my screw through the rod end then into the mirror where the nut was. Then screwed the rod end to the jeep and i have folding mirrors and no big screws or nuts hangin out PICS Balln's jk |
