Lightweight scaler???

With all of the new hype on making their comp rigs super light, has anyone tried to do the same with scalers? We are having a scale comp series that seems to mostly have hillclimbs. We dont do any deep water or mud. I have done a little searching and havent seen anything that was directed towards light weight. I do see a lot of heavy rigs out there but I am guessing it is mostly from custom tube work not just added weight for any particular reason. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

i wouldnt call mine light weight, but i removed almost a pound from my scx10(1/4 oz stick on weights), seems to do better now. id guess it weighs around 7-8 pounds now

I haven't put any extra weight in any of my scale rigs, I prefer them to be light as possible. My theory is, the extra weight may help your traction in front, but your rig still has to carry that extra weight up the hill. Plus the extra weight in fRont doesn't always help when your going down asteep hill.

Any of the heavy rigs out there have any input. I see some of the ttc trucks that weigh in at 10 plus. Is that just for the sled pull.
