Default Aluminum flatbed trailer

So, I wasn't sure where to post this, figured 'General Scale' was as good a place as any.

I actually started the design for this trailer about a year ago. Initial bed/frame were done within a couple of months.

Then I procrastinated like crazy because I didn't want to deal with the suspension. Initial plan for the suspension was to run a 3D printed axle on leafs. Eventually, after looking at about 1000 different suspension setups, I had a brainstorm and came up with this weird linked-cantilever setup.

Seems to work really well. Allows the suspension to conform to terrain without throwing the trailer around too bad. Final product will use machined aluminum plates, still trying to get my tolerances right for the bearing pockets.

Once I finally got the suspension worked out I was able to knock out the front panel, fenders, and ramp fairly easily.

And this is where I'm at now. Almost done, just need to work out the hitch setup.

That is some extremely impressive sheet metal work and a very clever suspension. I'd buy this over any currently available on the market

I work for a company that manufacturers HVAC equipment, the owner lets me use the machines to make RC stuff.

Nice sheet metal work there

Suspension reminds me of a walking beam.

Here's a few more pics with some different vehicles. Gatekeeper fits, but just barely. Tons of room for an RC10. About 1/2 inch too short for my TA-04S. Might need to make the trailer about an inch longer...

Very cool suspension design!! Looks like it's a sturdy build metal, and will help me for ideas once I get around to making one.

Thanks.

The owner of the company I work for lets me use the company equipment for side projects in off hours.

Mostly a CNC Press Punch and an Air Brake
