| Breathing new life into an old friend
Many of you probably remember the 1:18 scale Suicide Sally I was messing with. Today I found her on the desk, neglected. So I made the decision to put some decent axles under her. Looks like TLT axles will be used. Remember this is 1:18 scale so 2.2s wil be too big, 1.9s will be cutting it close. I might just have to live with 1.9s. Anyway, she's found her way to the workbench again. Loaded her into the truck and went to the powder coater to have the dirty girl stripped bare (you dirty, dirty, girl ) so I could see what joints needed to be cleaned up. Went over a few of those then started work on the boat sides this afternoon. They're both installed and a belly skid will go in at some point tonight. Hopefully she'll be a roller by Sunday. Hopefully... Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 07-20-2007 at 04:37 PM. |

I always wondered what happened to this build, go to see it get finished! Guess you never did decide on a stinger design that you liked? |

I am glad to see this thing is back with some real axles Maybe a big rig axle for the rear and then mod one with some kunckles for the front? that might help keep it narrow. -Mike |

With a little foolin', you could make 1.7's work. Use Sand Blaster sidewalls with the Nylint treads. I think I know the secret to the front axle |

16 gauge steel...that's how I roll. Belly pan will also be 16 ga steel. The boat sides will be sheeted with painted lexan panels. |

I don't think VMGs will hold up to a R2 with Holmes' brushless and me driving. This will be built like any other rig, just in 1:18 scale. |

Thanks, stormin'! Boat sides and bottom skid are done. Still needs front/rear skids added to the belly. Wanted to have it as a roller but I've got a week's worth of work to do to the axles first. Yes, that's 16ga steel. |

Have you seen the axles from der getreibdoktor? He makes semi axles that steer. With a little foolin' you could duplicate them. Sort of how I set up the TTB, only without the hinge. Tamiya outdrives on the diff, dogbones inside the case, and aluminum axle C's bolted on to get whatever width you need. If you want to get tricky you could use different-length dogbones to offset the pumpkin.

Painfully slow. If only my life were painfully slow. I'm staying pretty busy with work, been out of town, etc. Got back into town and have to jump right into more work - no rest for the wicked, I guess. ...and it looks like a 3 week trip is in store for the month of August. Looks like I'll be away from home for my Anniversary. Wife just loves that idea. |
