Default 1.9 comp class

Been thinking of this for awhile. With the completion of our winter series comming up, I've had a chance to see how a typical comp day does while running only one class. I would like to run something else besides just 2.2's. We finish kinda early everytime, even with our long lunch breaks. We have alot of time to run another class.

I propose a 1.9" tire 10"wb tube chassis only class.

Rules are pretty simple.
1. Production 1.9 tires. No reduced 2.2's.
2. 10" wheel base max.
3. tube frames/chassis only. No TVP's
4. 2ws only. No rear steer.
5. No dig.
6. Shaft drive only. No Clod style axles.
7. USRCCA tube specs apply. 8"L X 3"W X 3.5"H

I'll have one at the finals May 18 for all to see. You probably seen it before, just not w/1.9's & 10"wb. Just like this_CLICKME

I kow a bunch of you have or will have tubers after the finals.

So, any takers? Most of you saw mine this past weekend & some even drove it. I had a blast driving it during the night runs.

Some of you, well just 2, took home some tubers & a few more already have them. Let's get this going.

LOL...that was pretty funny. Qualifies for the smack talk thread

DTP, the 1.9 tuber looked awesome. I'm totally in on this. Gotta get my ass in gear and learn to design a tuber. Are you sure that it should be a tuber only class? I mean the tools needed to braze aren't that expensive, but what about people who can't build up a tube frame for one reason or another? Do TVP's have that much of an advantage at the 1.9 scale? Just a thought, still new to most of this. I agree about no clod style setups. Especially with the Duratrax Cliff Climber being released. Maybe those axles could be allowed, as long as its a scale-ish look. Maybe?

Eh...just run your rules for a season and tweak it later

the reason for no clod style axles is that you don't see them on 1:1's. they just don't look scale. tlt axles would be the best ticket. the axials are just a tad bit too long for me, but to each his own.

i'm in with DTP on the tuber only thing. that's what most of the 1:1 rock racers are. this class should be only tubers only.

if you can't build a tuber, then there's always the credit card .

I'll be using my newly aquired TCS EDGE chassis to build one.

Of course it don't mean crap if I don't bring it out to play

What tires are recommended for this class

And any pics of your 1.9 DTP?

If you build it, ya gotta bring it.

Right now just RC4WD crap........I mean tires.

Here's some pics during the build. Needs just a little more refinement.

Hey Chris, I'd like to keep it tuber only, just for the fact that it'll turn in to the same looking rigs that we already have in 2.2's. Plus I think the appeal of driving something that looks kinda like what you would see in a 1:1 event just adds to the coolness. That's pretty much the only reasons. As for those who can't build thier own for what ever reason, there's a bunch on the market now & also lots of used ones floating around.

ThanX for the pics Sheldon.

Agent Fat Cat still looks good in it's new 1.9 form

Man glad I double checked the rules, I was almost ready to cut down my MOAB's then saw the tire rule Man that would have sucked if I had cut them!

I guess only having the RC4WD tires won't be so bad as everyone else will be using them to.

Anyone know how close Pro-Line is to releasing their 1.9" tires? ;)

And yah if I build it I will bring it ;)

oh oh.....................looks like i'm going to have to start wrenching again .

i drove DTP's r.racer, and i tell you............it was pretty good fun on the rocks. with the short wheelbase and the 1.9 wheels/tires, it was a bit challenging between gaps. this was actually one of the first times i drove a 1.9'r on the rocks (my bruiser has 2.2 mudslingers). i'm hooked....................damn you DTP, again.............in a good way .
