Got my WK stretched to about 14.5 inches

I used traxxas driveshafts, strc upperlink extentions on the hpi crawler conversion upper links, and integy 149mm lower links.

It climbs great and has some major flex. The steering servo sticks out far enough to no longer hit the battery box either. Only disadvantage is the huge turning radius. I plan on putting 4ws on this thing in the future to fix this.

Let me know what you think

Does it high center a lot?

Mine seems to drag the belly on everything...

Yeah it does, but all stock chassis'd WKs tend to have this problem. I put extra spacers on the shocks to make up for the drop. I got 2.5 inches of clearance right now. There is fine line between good ground clearance and being too top heavy. When I do get hung up, the extra reach will always find a nearby rock to grab and drag me through.

I don't know about 40 series, but some maxx sized tires/wheels would be the ticket imho

I plan on gettin a TQ3 radio and modding it with a toggle switch on the 3rd channel to control my rear tires. My friend has this setup and it seems to work pretty good.

Anyone got any other suggestions on how to control the 4ws?

Got my truck lifted by moving the shock mount locations on the chassis. I'm up to 3 1/4 inches of ground clearance. It made a HUGE difference when crawling. I small improvement in flex too. I'll post some pics tonight to shoow where I moved them to. I am also considering doing a dig now instead of a 4ws steer setup. It really depends on how much this DNA rc dig is gonna cost.

http://rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108370
this was a basher rig i built about a year and half ago. Ran well, did all kinds of expirements on it, 40 series xl's (broke tons of axles) ran a dig system on it, now it is a scaler with the crusher tires, droop suspension and allkinds of other things. When mounting the uppers to the chassis do your self a favor and space the uppers out about a 1/4 inch this will increase the triangulation, locating the axle better. just ask if you have any other questions. BTW those are IMEX rubicon tires.

Do you mean adding another 1/4 inch to the extention? I have been wanting to do this to roll the axle forward a push the drive shafts up higher and maybe get them above the lower links.

Or do you mean putting spacers inbetween the chassis and the upper links?

if you extend the upperlink to rotate the axle you lose a lttlel hight. I think.

its looking good. 14.5 is pretty long.
I went to clock my axle mounts to get mine that long but my ds werent long enough.

Put some new upper links on the King. I used all the old parts from the HPI crawler conversion kit with some nuts and screws from Home Depot. The links are longer and roll the axles forward, which pushes the driveshafts up and almost over the lower links. Here is a couple picks of the mod.

I also painted the old WK body. I used some spray can rubberized undercoating and then brushed on some mod podge to seal it. It looks like the whole truck is rhino lined. I'm pretty happy with it.

I am just building a good rock crawler. It just happens to fall into the super category. I'm interested in any 13"+ wheelbase WK, so please post some pics here.
