Default crawler king/Moms' cutting board

so I had a wheely king that I had done some modding to, and then ended up tearing down and it turned into spare parts. I decided to make it a project this week, and came up with a design for the frame, and happened to have a Pro-Line Tuber chassis/body for an AX-10. It looks a little rough and needs to be refined and tweaked, but I think it came out pretty good for a rough draft.

I'm running 1.9's with Pro-Line flat irons on tamiya wheels, a 20t hpi brushed motor mated to a level3rc flipped motor mount, Hobbyking brushed esc w/drag brake and a traxxas 2075 servo for now to see how it all works. I'm gonna run it at the local gsrcc scale comp this weekend to see what I need to do next.

Nice! I like the overall design. Not bad at all for a rough draft

Thanks, after seeing your CR-01 and CC-01 builds, that's a big compliment
Here's the side pic with the roof, hood, and side panels on. I haven't figured out how I want to mount the rear decklid yet, and after a quick run this morning, I need to move the rear axle back a bit more and tidy up the wiring.

when I re-do the chassis rails (I picked up another cutting board yesterday), I think I'll try to integrate the front shock mounts into the rails.

the other problem I've got is that it only weighs 4 lbs 3oz with 2oz of weight in each front tire and a small 2200mah 2s lipo in it, so I'm having a hard time finding soft enough springs for it I'm probably going to need different shocks as well.

I haven't, but that's mostly because the springs are a little too stiff, so it isn't flexing as much as I'd like. I will be adding a panhard bar to it hopefully this weekend, along with replacing a few parts I broke over last weekend at the GSRCC #18 competition (there's pics and video of the event in the competitions forum)

So.......

this sat a lot longer than I thought it would. I made a new main tube out of brake line, and I need to make the brackets still, but I think it came out well so far

I also got the overdrive set for the front, and I made some pvc lockouts for the rear

I made a little more progress today, I made the front mounts to tie in to the ProLine Tuber body, and the transmission mounts on the passenger side of the chassis.

I need to clean up the welds, and I picked up some brazing rod today to some some of the more intricate work.

I also put the overdrive set in the front axle, and installed the lockouts on the rear. I can't wait to get this thing working again

a few notes:

I lengthened the front and rear links to compensate for the COG, with the new chassis and front OD, I can hopefully shorten the wheelbase a little, and place the battery down low.

The new chassis will also have room for a driver, so it will be legal for U4RC.

I am still using the ProLine Tuber chassis for the body to save weight up top.

hopefully, with the battery low, I can run a chassis mounted servo, without too much of a shift in COG.

a rough mock up of what I have so far:

3 link with panhard, front and rear
cutting board belly pan/bottom link mount
the steering servo mount is temporarily styrene.

I still need to figure out the battery mount, probably shorten the front links, make a winch mount, fender wells, interior and transmission housing cover.
