| Boyer WK Tuber
Thanks to Fireman Jim I now own this nice Boyer Tube Chassis. And of course I love Wheely Kings. So being stupid (4x4 out now) I went and bought 2 more WKs for this project. JIA told me the tuber was made for a clod setup and he was correct. But like I said stupid is my middle name. I wanted to make it into a 2.2 with 12.5 wheel base. This is my first attempt at doing any type of build on my own. I thought I would post up some pics so you all could critique it for me.So here are pics of the frame with WK axles at 12.5". Using 8-32 all-thread and black ink pens to make the links. The rig has about 3 3/8" clearance at center. http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...1174541105.pbw Last edited by JIA's Dad; 03-22-2007 at 02:49 AM. |

Yes I am HOOKED!!!! I have been doing some more to the tuber. I have the WK tranny mounted, made servo and battery axle mounts and made a skid plate for the bottom out of some really slick plastic I found. If the plastic works out like I hope it will, I'll pass on the info on it to all. I want to test before I recommend it. I plan to try a 55 turn brushed motor first, then maybe try a brush-less later. I have a Mamba Maxx and a Z3013 but the motor is a little large so I'll need to make another mount. I'll save that for the rebuild. But I am going to use the Maxx now. I want to see how it works with the 55 turn Axiom motor. thanks for the replyFind pics of mounts here.http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...1174495468.pbw Last edited by JIA's Dad; 03-22-2007 at 12:16 AM. |

That article was a GREAT story, I had to read it twice, actually made the eyes water a bit. I see the bug has bitten you for life now. Can't get any nicer than a boyer tuber. And I think we might have to change your name to Wheely King, not scorpion king |

I forgot to mention that I used 5000 wt. diff lube in the shocks and they do rebound some. Since the shocks have the air bladders inside. |

Pyro, I really like the mag also but it's special since JIA writes for them. I get the mag monthly and read it several times. I'm trying hard to get educated in RC. Jeremy, MY pit man Whats up!!! Yep, I'm going crazy with anticipation of my getting my A** beat by you guys. I just want to see everyone again and have all the fun again. You are in my pit crew again. I'll have a stick to repair. See you there man!!! |
