Default WK axles + Maxx tires?

You guys have more experience with Wheely Kings than I do, so I come to you for help. In your opinion, do you think the axles could hold up to some Maxx tires? I was thinking of running Crime Fighters, but dont want to be constantly breaking something.

Lonewolf used some.............a snapped all four axles.

He did a write up on how to upgrade to LST CVD's though.

I am thinking about doing it on my WK tuber (should be done next week).

I'm running full height Maxx Mashers that have been narrowed by about 1/2 inch, and have a 2.2 sidewall glued in to make them comp legal for 2.2 class.

I did break one axle shaft, after the comp, but I was abusing it pretty hard at the time. Now I have a better idea what it will take to break it, and feel pretty confident it will hold up to the big rubber.

I use unmodded Maxx Mashers with no problems. But my axles are not completely locked. They have putty in them.

Putty locked diffs are ok is you are just playing around but if you want to push your rig to its peak it will just not do. Fully locked is the only way to go on a crawler, and really pushing your rig is the scenario a good 70% of the time.

I think Lonewolfs CVD mod is a GREAT idea and one that will be done more.

The best part is that the axle shafts arn't splined at the diff end!

I read up on that CVD replace before. Very cool, but more work than I want to do.

It seems as though a fully locked WK axle will only hold up for a little while with tires of that size without upgrading the axle shafts. Shame. Oh well. Thanks for the help guys.

If you are gonna have a semi-stock WK with Maxx tires, here a pic:

You will most likely want 1/2" offset Maxx wheels though! The ones in the pic are standard offset.

I used offset maxx wheels with the imex k'rocks. the tires are hard enough they scuff instead of gripping, so my axles are still fine. There is another set coming from tower just in case tho, moabxl's are coming
