| New Bodies
I'm trying to keep it ... well not necessarily scale, but sort of realistic looking by not having the servo & battery on the axle. I know that's necessary for some of the stuff people on here do but I'm just having fun. I picked up 2 new bodies and 2 sets of tires. I have a set of beadlock wheels on the way so I used some cheapo F5s just for test fitting. The bodies are nothing spectacular but I haven't painted anything since my original RC-10 so .... | I sure did. I mean I used the little stickers for the headlights, blinkers, etc. I kinda wish I had left the windows clear or done a darker color to look more like tint. I thik next time I'll leave them clear then put some tint material in there. I also might try that liquid stuff I saw at the store for some weird effects. |

I had some time off work today so I decided to do a little "bashing" ... I reinstalled the stock motor & spur gear along with a 25T pinion gear & the stock wheels & tires. It was a bit faster Anyway, I hit a pothole that I didn't see and the King went flying because the suspension is so soft and flexy now. The only real damage was to the driverside front lower link which just stripped out of the rod end and sent everything cartwheeling: While I was waiting for the JB weld to dry I decided to see what it'd look like with the Mud Mashers and my new bodies. Obviously it rubbed pretty badly so I decided to make some removeable bumpstops for the days I feel like going fast and jumping stuff: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/oldrc/tech/bumpstops.php Anyway, I think it looks pretty decent with the new Ford body and the mashers: Last edited by Locked Up; 06-24-2016 at 10:21 AM. |

I replaced the HPI SF-1 servo I was using for my dig setup with another Tower Pro 945 ... man I forgot how much difference there is. I also blacked out the frame by soaking it in brake fluid and hitting it with a tooth brush. I think it looks a lot better: Last edited by Locked Up; 06-24-2016 at 10:22 AM. |

Looks alot better! The truck looks more scale now as it doesn't have the huge silver frame.

I had a little fun in the gargae today.... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/oldrc.../12-27-071.htm I know the new one is nothing special to most people but it's the most complex one I've done so far. I think it came out pretty well for rattle can. The rolled one ..... well, I didn't like the body anyway so I figured I'd see what I could do to it. It actually looks better than in the pics b/c I went back and added more scratches. I may end up painting the outside b/c the lexan just won't stop shining. | Comp Pictures
Went to a Comp last weekend at Cibolo Creek (near San Antonio) and had a blast. I actually finished 4th out of 9 mostly tubers and AX10s. Not bad for a rookie with a "modified stock" WK eh? Here is a link to all the pics of my rig and I'll post up a few favorites... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/oldrc...08/1-5-081.htm I almost forgot. Here is the video one of the guys in my club put together... You can see me make it up the obstacle in the third pic around the 2:13 mark. Unfortunately I hit the gate ... but I got up it and not everyone did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgSQaX0M0_c Last edited by Locked Up; 06-24-2016 at 10:58 AM. |

7.... HPI WK Truck (blue/black) Pro-Line 1970 Ford F-100 (red/white) Pro-Line 1970 Ford F-100 (Blue/Black/Silver/Red) Pro-Line Dodge Ram (black) Pro-Line 1950s Chevrolet Truck "Stampede" (blue) Parma 1957 Chevrolet Truck (yellow/black) Pro-Line 1970 Chevrolet Truck (silver/blue) I pick up bodies here and there, and when I get bored, I make a new one. Wouldn't it be nice if I could do that with women? I just assume spend $30 and make a new body vs. spend $30 and get boozed. Course there is a time & place for that as well, but my wife prefers the smell of paint in the garage to JD on my breath so | |

This thread has been updated because I actually got 2 more WK's for the kids ... and I think some of this may come in handy. The original Wheely King was sold but with 2 more in the garage..... I'll just add to this thread. Last edited by Locked Up; 06-27-2016 at 04:15 PM. |

Kaden loves anything automotive. He has several RC cars/trucks but they are all toy grade. They also cross on frequencies, so if we have a family RC day ... it looks like bunch of spastic jerking about. Add on that there is no cost effective way to repair them and it's not even worth it to me to get him another one. So, I decided to get him a Wheely King. I remember mine being fairly durable and I figured the big "monster truck" look would be appealing to him and I was right. I ordered 2 for a few reasons, but mostly so that his sister or I would have one to drive with him. Of course, 2 close trucks would just be confusing, so I made one a "blue" version and lowered the body a bit so his is "bigger". A little "Wheely King Soccer" ... and death by playground equipment: http://www.lockeduprc.net/videos/kidswheelykings01.f4v These things are going to have a hard life. | re: Locked Up's Wheely King's
After several packs though them, the damage is one bent front link and missing driveshaft on the front for Kaden. Mine is fine but I run into trees less. When he impacted something, the link likely pushed in and popped the shaft out. So it looks like we will need to beef up the links and get some spare shafts. Anyone have stock parts they don't want? |
