| Sheltering Wings Christmas Crawl at the ROX BOX Sheltering Wings Christmas Crawl A Place of Refuge and Hope... Sheltering Wings provides emergency housing for women and children suffering from any form of domestic abuse. We build stable and independent lives through essential programs offered in a supportive and Christ-centered environment. -------------------------------------------- Hi Aaron, Thanks for being patient with me while waiting to receive this information regarding our children and Christmas needs. I was so glad that you called last Friday, and we all appreciate your thinking of our women and children during this season of giving. I hope the info below is helpful, and can be used towards planning your truck competition on 12/6. If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me. I should note that the ages/gender below also include children of former shelter residents who have just recently moved out on their own and are still needing some assistance for Christmas. General needs: 1) Children's pajamas - from infant sizes through children's XL 2) Gifts for "older" kids from their mid-to-late teens -- we tend to not receive as much in that category because people love to buy for little ones -- it's more fun and the selection is greater! So things like handheld video games, basketballs or footballs, posters for the room, CDs, inexpensive MP3 players, etc. would help. I'm afraid to suggest remote control trucks because I know they would fight over them! Current gender and ages (there may be more than one of each age): Girls - ages 16, 14, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 4, 3, 4 months Boys - ages 18, 17, 16, 14, 13, 11, 9, 5, 4, 2, 1, 9 months Popular requests with the kids (boy or girl) older than 7 or 8 always includes Colts stuff. Popular requests from the boys include skateboarding stuff and about anything sports-related (DVDs, books, etc.), while requests from the girls include anything Princess, Barbie, or Hanna Montana. Hope this helps. Thank you again for thinking of us, and we'll be in touch regarding scheduling to come to the shelter. Good luck with your 12/6 event! Deb ------------------------------------------------------------------ So guys, for this comp there will not be an entry fee that gos to the Box. Your entry fee will be something that will be donated to the Sheltering Wings In Danville, IN Everything is staying local and will make a differance to someone this holiday season. The Shelting Wings will also recieve a huge Christmas Card signed by all the drivers and companys that help make dreams come true. We are all blessed to be able to play with toy trucks and this season i plan to use these toy trucks to bring huge smiles to the faces of woman and children. Thank You everyone for supporting the Rox Box, because with out you it is just a pile of rocks. Thanks Aaron |

On my way home from work, I thought Aaron needed to make this next comp stand out on the Forum pages. I get home and TA DA!!! I can't wait for this crawl. I'm hoping to have pieced together an extra rig for my nephew. That way he can donate too. This is a great Idea. My wife does this for Indianapolis, I don't remember which organization it is, but she actually talked to the single mom on the phone. Her young son asked who she was talking to. She told him it was Santa Clause. He wanted to talk to Santa, because he thought his mom was lying. So, my wife gave me the phone and I acted like I was Santa. So, when he told me the toy he wanted I had to make sure my wife bought that along with the other things they needed. I'll never forget the boy yelling back to his mom, It's Santa I'm really talking to Santa. Last edited by Ghostkid; 11-20-2009 at 04:55 PM. |

I'll be there. I am hoping to bring Pat with me again. Does the item we bring need to be new/packaged or can it be stuff we would ordinarily take to Goodwill? If it doesn't have to be new, I'll probably show up with a box full of stuff of both. |

| The gifts can not be wraped.... sorry .......Deb said that about 5 years ago some jeck husband found out that his wife and son had went to a shelter in other state, so he gift wrapped a nice little bomb to try and burn her face. So safety most come first for any shelter taking gifts. New unopened gifts and unwraped We will take over everything in 1 large box |
