Default 2013 greetings

WOW! This last month has been crazy, lost of changes have occurred, some good, some iffy. Nothing that will take me out of the hobby or the club role i play, but I will have to slow down some.

Most of you know that we are expecting our second child in June, but due to the nature of things, a more realistic date would be around the mild to end of May. This means that my crawl on the 5th may be the last one I get to attend for several Months afterwards. On the flip side of that I expect to do a lot of landscaping with limestone this spring and may have a nice little home course setup (club members always welcomed ;) ) by the time the crib midget is here. I will still do my part to make sure events are posted and updated and will try to make it out to local events if I can, but I expect to be needed at home a lot. Also i am not sure yet what I will be able to do for Raymond, i want to at least show up, but camping may be out for me The plus side of all of this is that my daughter is starting to get old enough to be interested and may start going with me on small outings, the home course will help with this a lot too. Dad and I are planning on getting her a MRC, either Losi (preferred) or a Redcat Sumo (has decent reviews).

Fiances are going to be tight for the first part of the year as we prep for the new arrival so build budgets have all but been cut out. The bronco is still sitting on blocks with broken CVs and I am contemplating switching it over to SCX10 axels. I still feel the creeper units are a good piece, but I think the combo of weight and power on 3s is just too much for them. With all those heavy Tonka Winnebago builds running on SCX10 axles I am fairly confident that they will take the abuse and the after market is much broader for them. I am looking at building a turtle clone and will use my RS-10 running gear under that while the creeper units will go under the 55'. Just seems like the 55' deserves to be a shafty, that front drive shaft could prove to be a chore though LOL.

I am still planning on getting my torch setup up and running in Feb so I can at least build some chassis. I have lost my machinist, he is starting on some spiritual self discover journey to Alaska (I dunno), so the off brand upgrade parts venture is on hold till I figure something out. I am also having second thoughts on doing a production chassis, I don't think there is enough market for it. The market seems to be in the custom chassis area and I am not sure that is something I want to get into at this point.

I am looking forward to this year and what it will bring. There is a lot of growth planned for the club this and I for one am excited about it.

First of all: "crib midget" might be the funniest thing I've heard all year!

I too am extremely excited to see where this club ends up. The more events that get planned the better IMO!

I believe that family comes first, so having your RC's on the back burner for a few months is completely understandable. I know that if I were faced with a similar situation, I would put down my radio and take care of business!

Congratulations on the new baby! If there's anything you need (favor-wise) just holler (sexual favors don't count... ) I'd be more than willing to help out any way I can

don't be to quick to offer, will probably need help getting rocks. the old man that mentored my dad used to say "Anyone dumb enough to mess with rocks, has rocks for brains". but those rocks are in Beloit and I am in Lindsborg...sooo yeah.

Congrats on the new addition to your family. If there is anything I can do to help out, just ask.

That can be good or bad. I wish my boss would leave, but the guy who would take his place might be harder to work for.

well new guy is hired and starts next week, i think this is going to be good.........i hope

Also, on the garage: I have one of those land lords who follows through on upgrades. Not only is he completely redoing all of my Chain link fence, but they jacked up the west wall of the garage and pushed it back in, had to rebuild half of the wall and put in a nice new steel walk in door. Now i am going to have to clean the rest of it to make it look as good as the west wall does LOL. with the fence i am also regaining some parking space in the back as they are moving the fence so it is even with the west wall of the garage rather then the west side of the roll up door. SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!!!!!!!

As many people who have asked in the last month or so, maybe I should just take up a collection LOL a little 180 Amp wire feed unit from HF would be plenty, would have to have someone come out and wire the garage up.

I'm thinking of building a rack for the front of my bicycle (since I can't find one for sale... they all look like crap, and my bike isn't stylish enough to have badass mounts...) I'm not sure what steel I need to get for it yet, and I just have the idea ATM (I haven't even drawn anything)

Well get to sketchin'! I have a few steel scraps, and if I don't have the right stuff, work has a scrap bin that's ripe for picking.
