The wraith axles are a must on this size rig. I have a few of these bodies and I'm waiting to get some time to build up mine. Can't wait to see the paint on here. A little tech tip...find some ABS plumbing cement...it's the same material used on the body. If you need to repair anything or make some gussets for strength or body mounts...just scratch up the area...and use the glue. It can also act as a filler material and once dry will sand just like the body.

Oh, and by the way...this body is almost 1/6 scale...not 1/8 scale. If you research the exact measurments, you'll find that out. I took measurements off a truck in my neighborhood and did the calculations. It's almost exactly 1/6th scale.

I wish I could find a body like this!

Wraith axles will be perfect as the body is way wide. I have a similar size F150 and it's nearly 2" narrower!

If the AR60's were out a while ago, I wouldn't have jumped though all the IFS nonsense.

Was wondering why no-one else was responding, had to look onto page 2 of my build thread Anyways

BULLDOG
THANKS for the ABS plumbing cement tip, I will use it to re-enforce the stock body mounts that I am using and I will add a little more to the front bumper area to add rigidity.

OSRC
BIG THANKS as always, that is also good to know as I had thought about the IFS setup but don't know where to obtain a donor suspension from but also like the 1 ton axle look under the dodge. Had to re-do links on the rear since I had fabbed up a 4link with a battery plate previously and screw holes did not match up from scx10 axles to the AR60's.

Was going to try my first few layer of satin black paint but painters forgot to leave door to paint booth open for me and I have to wait until next week after holiday when they return with they KEY.

I have a 20T axial wraith motor I got on the cheap hooked up to the 2 speed tranny for now, we'll see how it holds up to 3 cells. Speed is nice and crawling in the yard is at good speed also.

ALSO I HAVE CONSIDERED A DIFF COVER FOR AR60S BUT CAN'T FIND GOOD COLORS, WHAT ARE THOUGHTS ABOUT PAINTING ONE. WILL SCRATCH WAY QUICKLY.

Also, I have had others insist that this is 1/8th scale and actually get a little heated about the scale but I would agree near 30" after bumpers is very near 1/6th scale and is quite large. But that is a needless argument, I am only here for advice, comments and constructive criticism. Not to argue about "SIZE" if you know what I mean.

Didn't realize that since the wraith axels drive line is not centered I'll have to redo all of my links front to rear top to bottom. This puts painting and other body work out for at least another week or two.. huh, I need a drink and a j and ill look at it more later

If anyone says this body is actually an 1/8th scale and not a 1/6 scale, send them to me and I'll straighten them out. 1/10 scale tamiya is not 1/10 scale in most cases. Newbright scale is slightly off as well in the Silverado body. But when I took the measurements off the the RAM down the street and calculated them in with the body in my shop...they are 1/6 scale.
gadge was (I'm guessing) going off of your thread title saying 1/8 scale and not the knowledge of how big this body is.
Here is a handy calculator (don't ask me how I found this-blame Google), but it works well for getting numbers out nice and clean and checking your specs on different size builds and parts.

OK, not quite all the links but most of them. Frustrating when they had already all been sized and placed for wheelbase of the Dodge body. Got it all figured out for now with 4 link in the front and rear with the wraith axles. Began to upgrade to MIP steel driveshafts that came with axles but they will not get angle to up to tranny when shocks are un-compressed for front axle. Same problem with plastic wraith shafts, only traxxas or axial old style shocks will work at the current placement. Got sick over the weekend and have still not gone back to work yet.

Need to dis-assemble frame to paint pieces along with the Dodge body when I can get into the paint booth. Thinking of a camper to add to this truck at later point, referencing a lot of the slide-in camper builds here. STYRENE WOULD BE LIGHTER THEN WOOD FROM THE LHS CORRECT?

Having paint problems with the satin black base coat, it dries with a texture to it an is not smooth enough for me to tape off and move to the navy blue. Have resanded and started over twice now. Going to try 800 grit wet sand read that produces a satin finish. Will take chassis photo with axle shot soon. Been really busy with house and yard.

Me too - building decks and landscaping. Does give lots of nice piles of dirt in the meantime to mess around with!

Might be a good idea to paint both colors gloss, then come back, remask and hit the parts you want flat or satin with some dullcoat or satin clear. That way you're not trying to mask off an uneven surface and the end result looks the same.

If you lay a flat clear over a gloss paint it comes out flat or satin? This is all new to me. Pic of body currently and frame with AR60axles. wheels and tires are just for test runs.

Yes sir, it will dull the finish perfectly. I've wet sanded the areas in the past for better adhesion, just like I would for a glossy clear though not sure if that's 100% needed. Probably a good idea though.

I like the finish in that first pic - looks pretty decent from what I can see. Ready to repaint mine as well.

Pics online look better than it is but like everything I am learning and enjoying results. Picking up some high grit wet sand paper and will prepare to finish and re-assemble. What colors and scheme u going with? 2 tone? I need to check your thread for updates! For building, styrene is lighter than wood correct?
