One quick question... Does anyone know, what that part is supposed to be and where it belongs? It was part of the kit but wasn't mentioned in the manual... Thanks! Tom |

Just to keep aou updated... The Jeep is basically finished. I'm just waiting for a few accesories coming from England to complete it. So you'll have to be patient and wait a few days until you get to see the completed rig. In the meantime, I'm working on my second Willys Jeep, with a little different approach. If you are interested, you can find it HERE To be continued... Tom |

You Germans always have a good eye for detail. Love the simplicity of it too .

This one is looking nice! Lots of great details. Yea, the Bruiser axles seem to "fit" well under there... |

IT'S DONE...! Finally, the missing accesories have arrived, so I was able to finish with the detail. I'm still not really happy with the way it performs and am going to improve that at a later time, but for now I'n happy it's has RC at all. For the looks, I can say that I'm more than happy. 1/6 is a great scale to add a lot of detail. It has been a lot of work but worthwhile every minute of it. For now, It goes into my showcase to give me time for one of my many other projects. So here are the final pictures. Enjoy! Tom (Please forgive me for the incorrectness of the uniforms. I know, they're not right, but I'm not a military guy at all and used what I was able to get, afford and what pleased my eye... Last edited by Tom22; 05-18-2013 at 03:06 AM. |

I like how well your project turned out. It will make a beautiful static model, but when you add the ability for it to drive as a RC vehicle, it makes it that much better.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I'm not at all happy with its driving performance. The gearbox is horribly loud, the steering not very effective and the leaf springs too hard... That means I'll have to make massive changes on the chassis. But currently I'm working on other projects (and even have another Willys Jeep which I want to transform to RC, next to a 1/6 Dragon Kubelwagen and a 1/6 Kettenkrad... ), so for this time, my SAS Jeep remains a nice display model. Nice build ! My next large scale GI Joe Jeep was going to have the driver doing just what you did with yours. Love it ! (My wife just suggested that I put a woman in my jeep but hook up the steering wheel and her head going the opposite direction - just like the real thing ! Hey - she said it, not me ! Nice job incorporating the axles into the build - looks great. |

I just bought this model and might RC it. Where can I find the drivetrain? I'd also really like to find some Super Swamper tires for it. |

Very strong modelling skills on display here. Nice looking Jeep! The old-school GRU and transfer case are undoubtedly the source of the noise. True, the OG 1:1 vehicle sounded a little grindy and crunchy too! |

Really nice job on the replica. Gear whine and grinding is one of the novelties of an old Willys, along with a rough ride and poor steering. Just got me one of these too. I could have picked the Willys with the standard body including the windshield, but my plans for this won't require the included windshield...mucho modifications coming. |
