Maybe, there is a screw touching the can on the pass. side. Would that do short it?

Before I tore it apart I looked for anything else that could have crated a short. I didn't find anything.
I'm going to check the motor and the drive train to see if maybe there's something that is binding.

I sent the motor back to be rebuilt, hopefully that it's nothing serious. I am planning on moving the servo to the axle to free up some room in the engine bay.

Axial axle servo mount-used, usable.
RC4WD 4 link truss. New.

Yep, as I stated in the last post, they should be here next week. Eddie is going over them with a fine tooth comb and working his motor magic. I can hardly wait to get them back and one of them installed. They should be a BEAST.:twisted:

On another topic, the parts in post #48 are a bust. The RC4WD link mount is not the correct one, its for the rear axle. Which works out in the end because if I were to use them, they would raise the servo up on the axle and limit the suspension and articulation.

Oh well. Shit happens.

Im curently working out the the placement for the pan hard mount. I'll get some pic's up when I like the final product. 8)

For all you RC4WD fans, yes Im one of them, this is what you can expect from there aluminum axle housings. Yes they looks great and are well made and strong. Just keep in mind that they are not really user friendly.
If you buy there aluminum axle housing you may run into this issue.

To mount a servo on the axle you'll need to have 3 separate parts achieve this. I have a hard time understanding how this product was approved

As you can see , the parts needed is right at a full inch.
For most builds, this will not work.. I just thought I'd share my thoughts on this product. :roll:

Ya, I've heard and seen these issues before. I have not purchased them, so I don't know firsthand, but some guys were complaining about the lack of shock and link mounts on certain RC4WD axles, and that they have to be purchased separately.

I must be missing something here...is it the height of the servo mount mounted to the top of the RC4WD truss that is the problem?

I looked at my build to try to see what or if I would have had a similar problem, but then I realized mine is set up differently. I had cut out the entire plastic from the engine bay, so when the suspension flexes, the axle-mounted servo moves up into an open area, where as yours would hit the pan you made, which is probably why builds on the newer Hasbro, Dragon, or 21st Century Jeeps, the builders have made a body or chassis mounted servo, with a panhard bar.

Take a look at Mudbeasts' build, it looks like he was using one of those RC4WD trusses with an axle mounted servo.

Kinda, I tried mounting the servo in the engine bay on the pan. But, because there's not enough room to mount the servo sideways I wasn't able to get enough throw left. The servo was mounted to close to the drivers side frame and body.


If I were to use a stock Axial Wraith axle there would be plenty of room. The servo mount is MUCH lower and hugs the axle.

Mike- if I were to use the RC4WD hardware to mount the servo to the axle it would be a combined 1 3/4" from the top of the axle tube to the top of the servo.

Imo, that's WAY to much.

My bad, I went back through the build pages and now see that you're using a different axle, ..... from RC4WD, and ya, that is way too much.

Would it be possible to mount the servo with the horn parallel to the ground, instead of perpendicular? Take a look at Nomad's 1/6 Willy's CJ3A build, post #23

I did see his build and tried like hell to make that work. For some reason I can't turn the servo . I think he might have a different body, not sure, but I don't have to room.

I'm working on moving around the motor/trans to mount the servo under the radiator support. I've turned the motor/trans 180` , motor on the drivers side. It gives me a little more room to push the M/T back towards the fire wall.

I'm taking my time to make sure all my measurements are accurate. You are aware of measure twice, cut once.
