Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" That's kinda the plan, just no vice grips. I'll post up my jig after diner. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Here we go, Stock length screw https://a1-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...09/300x300.jpg In the jig. https://a1-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...84/300x300.jpg After sanding. https://a3-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...a6/300x300.jpg Side by comparison of the two screws. https://a3-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...8b/300x300.jpg |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" The screw is now .5 mm shorter. https://a4-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...75/300x300.jpg |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I forgot to post the weights of each of the housing. RC4WD: https://a3-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...9a/300x300.jpg SSD: https://a4-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...11/300x300.jpg More progress soon. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I must say, this axle is SEXY. It's all assembled and installed. https://a3-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...ba/300x300.jpg Just a little fine tuning of the lower links to get it all squared up. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Looks real good John, definitely better with a centered pumpkin "thumbsup" |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" The transfer case has been relocated, I moved it back a 1/4" and over a 1/4". I was shocked how much it improved the drive line geometry. https://a3-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...7a/300x300.jpg I'm working on the front upper links and reworking the motor/ trans configuration. |

Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" New upper links are done for the front end. https://a1-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...cf/300x300.jpg I'll get the motor/trans redone in the morning. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Links are in. I had to bend them because I made them too long. Oh well, it worked out. Gave more clearance for the front drive shaft. https://a2-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...75/300x300.jpg |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Need some help: I can't figure out how to shift the axle to the left about an1/8". As far as I can tell all links are the same length and all the spacers are equal length. The front axle is off set to the right side. Thanks for any ideas."thumbsup" |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" The link on the left in post #110 sure looks longer. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I see what your saying, but that is because of the angle I had to take the picture. They are equal length. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Thank you Greenz."thumbsup" |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I got the motor/trans in. https://a1-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...13/300x300.jpg Workin' on installing the electronic. |

Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" Thanks for the help guy's. I tracked down the alignment issue. It was the upper link mount that I made, it was off center by 1/8". I also noticed that the servo mount was lifting the frontend. So I moved it to the axle. I'm not happy about it, but at least it will be more solid and I'll get more of the servo power to the knuckles. |
Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I've had a few issues with gearing and have it sorted out. It seams I had it over geared to the point I smoked another motor while testing. At least that's behind me. I do have a few spur and pinion gears coming to fine tune with. As of right now I have a 6.0 ratio in it via a 9/54 combo. I did a short, 5-8 min. run in the yard earlier today and the motor didn't pass 100*. That's much lower then before. I should get a few pics up tomorrow while I test things out. |
