| BWD chassis
I am thinking of getting the BWD chassis kit and was wondering if it made the wheel base any longer or would this be something that I would need to do also. I think a little extra wheel base would make my little brick crawler that much better. Thanks! |

From what I understand it is the same WB as a stock crawler, if you wanted it to be longer you would need to make new links for it and lengthen the drive shafts. Just a heads up, a few people have stretched the WB on the wedge and found that going longer than a 4.5" WB can create issues.

On BWD's site, there is an instruction/build link. It tells you the recommended length of links, and max lengths. If you want to go long, this might not be chassis for you. Mine was at 5 1/8" wheelbase and my shocks were so maxed out, the rig had very low belly clearance. It helps to run a crossmember at the shock mounts and then mount the shocks to the xmemembers. I used Losi body posts for a bigger car cut to width......not sure of a p/n or exact model, but they are about 5/16" diameter and has lots of holes.

Is there an aftermarket chassis then that will allow a longer wheel base?

Eclipse from Ripper7racing is made for a longer WB, TMC from Crawlerx works good with a longer WB, Pinch chassis works up to a 4.5" WB, DP torsion you are stuck at stock WB, make your own chassis and you can do whatever you want .

I have the wedge and I have no need to go longer. If I was to go longer I also don't think it would be a good chassis

The Wedge does very well when set up correctly (within BWD's specs), certainly smokes the stock setup for sure. Dockman, the links in the kit are adjustable, it can be tweaked without much issue within that 4-4 1/2" range. I'm not much longer now with my Raptor, but more length is coming. my BWD micro wedge has a 5 3/4" WB. you have to do a little tweaking and modding to get perfect articulation, But there is absolutely no issues running a longer WB w/ it. |

no detailed pics. YET LOL but i used 2 2mm spacers between the chassis and the shock on the rear to help clear the links. and of course w/ the BWD, the front shocks are inside the upper links. and again have 2mm spacers, but on the inside of the chassis naturally. |

Cool. Stock motor, trans and shocks. used a bic to extend the Drive shafts. HS-65HB servo BWD micro wedge chassis and links. Qlo tires on modded stock rims. And a 250mah 2s Losi Lipo. let me know if i missed anything else you want to know about. |
