Default big block question...

i have a 52t spur and im trying to use the 17t pinion and i cant seem to make them mesh up... i moved the mount up to where they are closer but i cant seem to get it it close enough... i tryed the 54t plastic one and it comes closer but they still dont mesh together... will the 56t mesh up with the 17t? or do i need to go bigger on the spur?...

have you tried using the small trans gear? It'll work.
Have you tried cutting some of the trans case away to allow the motor to get closer to the spur?

i havent tryed cutting the trans to get it closer... i dont have any extra trans gears but its so retardedly close with the 54t gear i think it may work if i cut away part of the trans... im just curious if the 56t with the 17t spur will work without cutting the trans down?

The bigger the spur, the easier mesh you can get without surgery to the case. Plus, there's not much to gain for the trouble of the mod. If your spur gets too big, you're gonna have to clearance the output shaft.

59T is about the largest spur before any grinding of the output is needed. My how to uses a 59T rally spur and an unmodified output.
It's also the largest available without modding the gear itself (heli gears)

What pinion (brand) are most people using for this. I read somewhere Robinson Racing Absolute Pinions fit right up. Im concerned about the pitch (gear mesh). No gear mod necessary would me the preferred method.

I've been using Radical Racing brass pinions. They're a tight press fit, but they work. They come in 9, 10, 11, and 12T.

What is the pitch of the stock losi gears (non metric please)? Still looking for the best pinion option to use with the "big block"......

Hey Guys, Im just wondering what currently is the best pinion option to use with the 130 motors?
Brand would be great, size, if anyone knows what pitch? Are there any options that bolt right up (no drilling&tapping needed)? Someone had mentioned somewhere RR Absolute pinions, if there is any confirmation on that?

Thanks

I have fit the 14T and I think 12T brass pinions used for the losi micro on the 2mm shaft of the 130 motor. just need a drill bit and round file smaller than 2mm to open it up clean it out.
just keep in mind a pinion that small wont contact the spur gear with the stock motor plate
