Default DANALLY's first Trekker

I have more than 10 micro crawlers and have never had to buy a Trekker for any reason other than to experiment or to confirm motor clearances. I recently came accross one of those ebay deals that I won for $90. There was broken shock...that's it! Someone probably used it once and boxed it back up. It is honestly new!

Anyways, here is the start of where it is headed.

Here is pretty much how the Trekker sits at stock height.

I did some internal trimming and did a body drop. You can really tell where the chassis is seen below the body. About 1/4" drop.

Here is where the axles will sit after I make new links. The rear end slid a little in the pic so it is a little farther than I intended but the front is about right. It's about 1/2" added to the stock wheel base.

I also narrowed the rear end on the body even more. I just cut the side body posts off and redrilled the holes. I also made some relief cuts inside the bed so it doesn't bubble the sides out.

This rig also has the Lavacap wideners, weighted boggers, and will have custom links and steering. I plan on special motor set-up and possibly some custom touches with cage work. I think it will be droop suspention...not sure yet.

Oooooooo........I'm excited to see how this turns out. I know I'm going to need another big block kit soon for a mcrc I just picked up. I think you'll really like the trekker though.

So far so good. I like the extra room in the chassis. I hope to have a bunch more done this weekend.

Got the front steering together. I like to make my own aluminum center links. Gets them higher and out of the way. I thought about doing a BTA but decided I want this one running sooner than later.

Coming along nicely. Is that tower pro servo worth getting as opposed to the hs65mg?

I buy 8 at a time from China for $34...worth it for the cost and most of them are good. They take WEEKS to show up. I have the occasional one that is not right but what servo maker doesn't! As for power they are real strong. I think its 9g. I actually think they are a bit stronger than the last HS servo I used. I also like the all black body as opposed to the blue HS servo. Just my humble opinion.

Are you still running them directly on 2s? How do they hold up on 2s?

I'm at the point that I need a new servo, but don't like that the stock esc only puts out 5v. If Hytec made a HV servo capable of handeling 2s, I would get that, but don't want to gamble with an expensive HS65.

Been using them for a long time. They rarely fail. Usually if I get a bad one it's right out of the box. I have had a rare one go squirley but it was always a heavily used one on miclaws.

I don't have any hooked up that way right now but the last rig I ran it on it was killer strong. I replaced the servo a few times in 6 months or so. They get twitchy. But the cost was so cheap and the power was so awesome.

So I guess it's done for now. I like the extra wheel base. I put in a 65t Stroker motor to see how I like it. It still has SOOOO much torque! I think I will rewind it to 40t and see how I like it. I crawled for a while and got the pretty body all scratched up So far my thoughts are that I like the Trekker a lot. It may not look like a lot has been modded but it handles very well and is very predictible. I just hope I keep it together without stealing parts for something else!

Nice rig Dan! I haven't seen this one yet. You're tryin to copy me and out-do me at the same time, aren't you??? Hahaha...

Seriously though, I'm gonna have to get another Stroker from you soon. I've got a wild build in the works that needs a little torque and a LOT of speed.

LOL, I thought that too when I got it and it had the black body. I remembered yours and took all the stickers off. Did you drop the body on yours?

It's not droop! By slamming the body it makes it look like it must be droop. I like droop on some of my other rigs tho...especially when they have heavy bodies.
