Default 1/20 4ws S-10 truggy (Flat-bottomed girl)

So this is a little project I started awhile back. For some reason I'm having a hard time staying on this build, so I thought I would start a build thread. Maybe that will keep me going. I just have to many projects on my brain, and sometimes it's hard to stay focused! So I just got back to this one after taking a break to build a Camaro micro-t drifter. I figure it's time to start building again! Okay, as far as the specs go, I'm using the usual aluminum trans and DDT stroker. A 90t this time around. Dual Tower Pro mg90s servo's, Redcat esc, and tx, and DDT wheels wrapped in Rok Lox. I'm looking to make her low, flat, and crabby! Well, we'll see!

Default 1/20 4ws S-10 truggy (Now Miclaw-equipped)

So now that I got my Miclaws in, I thought I should try them on this thing. Now I think this is where they belong! It is a truggy after all. Well so I guess I have a slightly new line of attack! I don't know what I was thinking with those little tires anyways. here's a mock-up pic for y'all:

So I'm back to work on this one. I found new inspiration with the Miclaws. The family all decided to take it easy this weekend, so that means for me, some crawlin' at the river, and lots of work on the S-10. My plan is to have a roller by the end of the weekend. I already have the front suspension dialed in. Now all I need to do is finish the rear...

Tonight, we officially reached Roller status! She now sits at a 6" wheel base, and 1.5" of clearance. Now I just need to do some rear cage work, battery tray, bed sides, front bumper, etc... Then paint.

I really like this. I would love to do this with mine. I have a pickup body that came with the crawler when I bought it second hand. Just not sure if I can get it to work out right with the stock frame.
Can't wait to see what you do with cage. Styrene? Brass?

Right now I'm only working with styrene. My work space is the kitchen table. I want to work with brass, but I'm just not set up for it yet. Honestly, I build like I play guitar, I get an idea in my head and just start winging it and see what comes out.

Yeah, I'm runnin' full droop on this one. She sits a lot higher than I wanted, but with the Miclaws I ran into some clearance issues. She seems to flex well though. I might have to throw the motor and esc in the chassis tonight and see how it performs. If I do, I'll try to get some video.

Ok, so I threw it all together for a trial run. I have major clearance issues! The Miclaws got caught up in the body so bad, I broke an axle! Smaller tires would fix the problem, but I'm keeping the Miclaws on this one. So I guess I will try longer links, and more body removal. There won't be much left when I'm done!

Last night I got a little crazy with the dremel. Fixed the clearance problem though! Just needed longer links, relocated upper shock mounts, and removing the headlights as well as some fender. Now I'll just have to get creative on the front end with the tube work! I have an idea that might look good though. We'll just have to see how it turns out. I'm toying with the idea of LEDs. It might help fix what I did in the front to make some light bezels. Here's a pic of the carnage!

I've had a little bit of progress since my last post. Front end is done, and I've started on the rear. Still need to do some tube work on the rear, rock sliders, interior, lights, then paint. Here is how she sits for now:

Only had enough time this weekend to finish up the rear end on this thing. I still have to finish up the interior before I can send her off to paint. I am having trouble making room for all the electronics inside the cab. In the end I think I'll only have room for half of a seat! Thats what happens when you've got such a big motor! Anyways, here's a pic of the rear end.
