| Micro Ridgeback Chassis setup help
Hey everyone I'm going to be doing a ton of upgrades to my trekker in a month or so and had some questions. Here's the setup I'm going to be using: - Ridgeback chassis - Scrambler 1.0 tires - Turnigy 210DMH servo - Predator 90t motor I'm thinking about going with a turnigy 210DMH servo, 3.9kg of torque should be plenty to move the big tires. To go cheaper, maybe an MG90s could work with the scrambler 1.0 tires, or would it be too weak? To extend the driveshafts, I want to drill them out and glue 5/32 styrene rod in each end. Is this the right way, or is there a better way? Will it handle the torque and grip of the 90t motor and scrambler tires? Fungi used the same method, post #12. I extended my Trekker shafts using a carbon arrow for bow hunting. It was a tight, friction fit but I put a few drops of glue for safe keeping.

You can cut the female end in half, and extend it by sleeving it with a Bic pen. I’ve run them with Miclaws, and a big block 80t 180 can motor with no breakage. Here’s one I did like that.

Thanks for the responses, I might try the bic pen method. it seems a bit easier and stronger than drilling out the female shafts and gluing a styrene rod inside. Instead of the 90t predator motor, I might just get a PN Racing 70t motor, upgrade the can and make a 130 motor plate. Any recommendations on servos? Will an MG90s work with the scramblers or should I get a turnigy 210DMH or Hitec HS65? btw, what's the stock gearing? pinion/spur. Last edited by noel2; 12-23-2017 at 11:11 AM. |

Nothing wrong with hs65s. I ran them before switching to KST ds215. Both great options and I have 4ws. Plenty of power. Stock pinion is 10t. Spur is 50. Ended up swapping to a 55 on the spur in Aluminum and changing the other gears to brass for a full metal setup.

I'll order an aluminum transmission case and a 58t spur from the SCT, supposedly it fits with some mods. That should definitely help with low end control and torque. Looks like I’ll be getting an HS65MG Last edited by noel2; 12-24-2017 at 03:54 PM. | |
