| Anyone running tekin FX-R & 3S lipo?
I am running the Tekin FXR and a 3S lipo. The motor is a Holmes Hobbies Torq Master Mini. The ESC temps are warmer than usual, about mid way on the ESC temp guage. Stock Spur and a 12 tooth pinion. Has anyone had any issues with this type of setup? Tekin claims the ESC can handle 3S with the use of a 35 turn or higher motor. I figure the HH TMM is a high turn motor and since its a 280/300 size motor VS. a 540 things should be OK.

The HH Torquemaster Mini is 33t or 22t depending on which version you got.

you should have no worries with any 380 a fxr can handle 2 35T motors with 3s I would want to make sure all connections are good 1st also the capasitor must be installed. other than that? how was you running it? balls to the wall? |

I'm still guessing that the overall current draw is equal to or less than a 540 size 35 turn motor. The temps only heat up when I'm full throttle but it does heat up quickly. Reason for 3S was to give me a wider range of RPMs to work with. To it give it more crawl ability and less strain I went down 2 teeth. The motor is at 0 degrees timing.

I run the TMm and a sidewinder micro esc, 12t pinion and stock spur and i use NIMH batts at the moment and have no issues at all, good wheels speed and torque and great slow speed control for creeping.

The cap is installed. I am also running two Hitec 645MG servos (not full time 4WS). Yeah when I keep it slow the temps are low. Real low, like it was with 6 cell Nimh. But as soon as I run flat out for a few seconds it apears to get warm and jump to half way or just under. I was concerned cause I've never seen it get warm before. I was running two 6 cell 1100 mah packs in parallel (2200mah 7.4V) Now I'm runiing a Venom 3S 1300 13C lipo. It was cheap and small. Cheaper than buying one nimh. May add a Novak LVC with LED just to be safe. Worried while crawling that I won't catch the Tekins LVC notifications. I haven't even ran this pack down yet. Just did some preliminary testing.

well if your running a lipo and your constanly on the gas (as far as the triger will go ) then it will heat up... ive been through 5 stock escs and just ordered a tekin fxr but watch your speed... their crawlers ;) hahha if your not speeding then its your motor maybe.. |
