Default Thunder-Worm with LCC Axles...

Hi guys!

Here is my entry to the 1.9er comp world - my little Thunder-Worm with LCC axles

Here a little review from beginning to yet:

The tranny is made by myself:

Also the wheels are homemade:

The knuckles are a mix of Felsenfest AX10 knuckles and a little bit homemade:

At least i´ve shorten the axle to fit it for the 1.9 class:

At the moment i´m waiting that the postman bring my MiniJuice chassis to me...

to be continued...

With best regards from austria,
Gerry

if you can come up with a successful steering link for that kind of degree, that will be dangerous as hell!

Hi

Your build is looking good and I'm jealous of your homemade parts... For sure, I'll follow your thread hoping you'll be luckier than me. I also wanted to go that route with the Y-Town minijuice but my order got lost on the way to my house (Still waiting for Jeremy to get some refund from USPS - 75€ -) and I had to change my plan . Maybe I'll reorder one or choose another bodyless chassis when I'll get tired of the bug I have now...

Have fun dude ,

Emmanuel

It´s easy, on the rear axle i´ve cut 8mm each side, in the front 6mm each side.

I´ll take some photos of the things to do if you want shorten the axle and post them here.

Let´s start us shorten axles

At the front axle you only have to cut the axle each side about 6mm:

Then cut the CVD´s, welding or braze them to the right length and your job is done!

On the last pic you also can see that i have exchanged the LCC CVD Joint to an Axial CVD Joint - so i had a real cool steering angle...

Now let´s do it on the rear axle - it´s a real bit more tricky:

Here you don´t have to cut anything on the axle!

You have to shorten the "end caps" from the axle:

When you have cut these round about 7mm each side (or more if you want) you have to mill out the caps that you can mount it again:

IMG_3883.jpg

I do that with the Dremel...

Than you shorten the driveshaft:

Mount the longer distance and the other stuff, mount all and you are finished!

They show up fine, however, when you attach them to the post (as opposed to linking them), they will all appear at the bottom of the post...

Gerry-

Have you run this rig yet or is this your axle work in progress? I know Dlux had some issues getting the tranny to work right and give him the wheel speed he wanted due to the gearing of the work and such. I would love to know if you have had any issues on your end.

Today i´ve started the first test with the homemade tranny and the LCC axles.

This are the components:

2S LiPo
30T handwound motor from RCBM-Scaleparts with this specs:
14025rpm / 7.2V / 77W / 95Nmm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cze66gXopU

Tomorrow i will test it on 3S - and my feeling said - that looks good

With the home made tranny, you might be able to get around any tranny related wheel speed issues. I certainly will be watching this build as the durability of the mrc is always concerning.

I´ve decided to continue the build with an homemade chassis like my old RollerCoaster Chassis for the AX10:

So i´ve room enough for tons of steering and more ground clearance

More pictures and infos comes later...
