Default RCROCIN's Mini Moonbuggy all dlux'd out

Well My Mini has always been my most neglected rig so this year since my 2.2 is about as good as it will ever be I decided to show my mini some love. Improving the steering and side hilling were the two areas I wanted to focus on mainly. Also wanted to lighten the new rig a little. Here is what I went with for parts. The roller (motor installed) is sitting at 2.09lbs. My last year rig was RTR at 2.95 so I should end up a few oz lighter.

Parts old vs new

2011 Mini Juice - 2012 Carbon fiber Mini moonbuggy
2011 VP little Harry's - 2012 Dlux new wheels .5"
2011 Standard MRC axles - 2012 Dlux'd MRC axles
2011 Stock cvds - 2012 LCC inners with MRC outers
2011 micro sidwinder - 2012 Mongoose
2011 Stock spur Gear - 2012 HR metal spur gear 60t

Carried over from 2011

HB Rovers
4pk
CCBEC
Savox Servo
Losi shocks did change out to Mini t srings and Jeepindoug spring cups

Here are some pics as it is now. it is a roller I am hopping to get the rest done over the holiday weekend.

Dlux is the man his adapters for the LCC Cs and the link mount are perfect. I am really digging the angles here

What can I say Dlux again came through these wheels are spot on. I love the ability to adjust the hubs. Great work man oh yeah he also made the awesome knuckle weights

Here is my front and rear axle width OT to OT.

This rig is looking sick!

I'm in the process of building a Blue CF Mini Rockshow SS(build tread will up soon) and I'm also planning on Dluxing it out soon. I will for sure be watching this rebuild!

What hubs are you running front and rear?

Sick rig Aaron! The D-Lux goodies & the light weight should

Looks good!

FYI, you dont need to run the shock mount AND the adapter in the front. If youre already using the shock mount you dont have a need for the adapter too as it takes place of the adapter. I do like how you inserted a screw into the shock mount though. should make that setup much better. I know JeremyH had some issues with the shock mount coming loose when he tried to run both.

Edit:

Looks like youre running a pretty wide hub but your axle is still pretty narrow? Did you cut down the stock housing? If not, that could be a good idea if you wanted more scrub.

Aaron, looks great. I'd really suggest either cutting down those shocks a little or going with a slightly shorter shock.

Everything seems tight so I will leave at is for now if I have any problems I will adjust accordingly. No alterations were made to the axles. I am running 600 hubs in the front and 725 in the rear. I have 460 hubs also I may test out.

Well got the lil guy finished last night I am pretty happy with how it turned out so far. I might be able to get some testing done on Monday if the weather report is accurate. I achieved my main objectives as you can see in the pictures I was able to reduce the wieght by .5 lbs. The steering is also much improved over last year. The side hilling capabillities look to be improved but I will know the anwser to this better after I test. Well on with the pics.

Gotta love the poser pics

Electronics are always a PITA on these little guys

Steering setup - servo horn screw is in now and it's awesome I caught some lady blowing her nose in the background

Wieght Comparison

RTR now

RTR last year

Is it just the way the pic is taken or is the rear wider than the front?

Looks good though. I love the mini T1E's. My build will be very similar with the D Lux parts, but I have the delrin chassis with the rockshow SS cab.

Yeah it is is slightly I have 725 hubs in the rear. I have a set of 460s to try I may need to get another set of 600s though.

I'm curious to see the width difference with the 460 in the rear compared to the front with LCC mod. Just trying to figure out widths as I will be running the same setup with LCC Mod and D Lux wheels. I like the front just over 7" and the rear right at or close to 7"

I was able to get out and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather today. We don't get many 55 deg days in Eastern PA in January. I got two packs in and I was very impressed with the performance. The dlux wheels are spectacular to watch looks like the wheel is floating. I like that these wheels are narrow also. The steering upgrads and clocking worked very well. I had zero push trying to steer. I shimmed the overdrive gear this time and it seamed to have improve how the front drove. The chassis worked awesome also. I hope to get out again before winter catches up with us. well here are a few pics and a I also got a couple videos posted at the bottom.
