| crawler issues
I'm having some issues with my crawler. I am running the following: Tekin Rebel 2 DX3r Receiver hitec 7955 for steering 645mg for dig DNA dig 55t Integy Lathe Motor 8 cell 1500 nimh saddle pack from holmes hobbies I'm running a CC BEC wired per Castle's instructions. I'm running a droop suspension with TLT axles, to Panther Cougars on Double phatty beadlocks. 4 bearings in the front, zero in the rear. My crawler seems to kill the battery pack within 10 minutes of use. I used to run just a 645mg and I was getting around 45 mins of use out of the pack,. Now with the upgraded servo, second dig servo, and the cc BEC, the pack is dead with 10 mins. I understand that there is a higher draw on the system, but I didn't think it would kill it that soon. I also have a lack of power and torque. Even trying to climb a 50* carpeted incline is a struggle. The 55T lathe should have plenty of torque to at least spin the wheels, but it appears the motor just stalls. Should I jump to Lipo? Any ideas? |

Is the BEC a new addition?? If it is, try the setup with the BEC eliminated... I am not sure if those are configurable, but maybe tha BEC is cutting off early or drawing too much. I cant see the second servo being that hard on the system....

I'm new here but i've been in this for a little while, my friend ran quad steer on his axial and we both run 850 mah lipo. he ran two 645mg servos for steering and I only run front steer, his battery life was only around ten minutes and mine was well over 30 min. he stripped the rear steer and only runs the on servo and now our time are nearly identical.I don't have a dig yet but from what i understand you don't need 144 oz our tourqe. maybe standard servo would improve your battery life |

I used to run rear steer with dual 645mgs and still managed over 45 mins of run time. I'll try it without the BEC, and see what happens. |

I swapped in a 45T, and the power is back, but the motor runs hot, and will start to smoke if I have to full throttle it for a hill climb. any ideas to keep the motor life going longer? |

Just a thought here mike Did you cut the red power wire from the ESC to the REC when you added the BEC. I'm not sure if this will cause the problems your having but just thought I'd mention it.

hey cronus i think the bec is your issue... wire the cc bec directly to the hot and ground on the servos. when you do that you will need to leave the hot wire from esc to rx to power the rx. if you run the cc bec and the esc bec to the rx you will cook it. |

change motors, put any good motor on it, if it still gets hot send that esc back to tekin. you may have cooked it.

fawk it, I'm going to run it as is in the comp this weekend. It will either work, or go up flames, and either will be spectacular. Afterwards, I'll order an FXR combo. |

just managed to drain a pack in 5 mins...something is leeching power. Whenever I try to climb something, the rig just stalls and the motor starts to smoke.

It has got to be the receiver or the speed controler. I'm sure you have one or the other you can swap in.

I had a similar problem. But I found out it was a bound tire. Turns out the pin fell out of my hub and I was tightening the wheel into the axle. Have you tried free-wheeling the drivetrain with the motor out or pinion off? It's not a gear mesh problem? Best to rule out the simple stuff first. Good luck man! |
