Default Tedo's Wraith MT

Picked up a used Roller for a great price on here. Then picked up some Rumbles from Shane (Szber... s/p), and assembled an MT basher. Not going to be a super expensive build, just more of a cool basher MT. I have always loved monster trucks since I forst saw Bearfoot in 1983!

Running:
Ground Pounder frame
Wraith drivetrain
VXL system on 5200 2s batteries
4 inch traxxas big bores
32 pitch Axial trans
Sway Bars front and rear
Hitec 5645 (we'll see how she does with those beefy tires... so far so good).
Onfa wheels with RC4WD Rumbles with traxxas 17mm adapters.
Shortened the wheelbase to 13.5 inches

I have to say, I normally run 3s in my rigs, but 2s with this set up is feeling pretty good. Fast enough to not get bored, but not overly powered that I have to worry about breaking stuff. I don't know. I only have 2 packs (1 hour) through this things.

Future plans:
Definitely need some Vanquish chubs for this thing. A bit of play in the front axles (front does have universals).

Probably pick up the Parma 57 chevy shell and make it into the Avenger.

Grin from ear to ear.

Thanks man. I bashed it hard on Sunday, and it was a blast. My friend built a Monster Jam freestyle course with HUUUGE jumps, car shells for crushing, berms, Barbie houses to trash trough, etc... So much fun. Didn't break anything, except the shell is in pretty rough shape these days.

Hopefully video soon, as soon as this rain stops.

My wraith pounder is a blast. I need to get differentials put in it.

Oh yes I MUST make one. I have had such a fascination with the MT theme. But when I had a clod based one it just wasn't right. AR60 are hearty axles and perfect width. Go go go! Must have vid

Yes, this one has the open diffs! Very forgiving.

I have been an Monster Truck fan since kindergarden. My dad would alway take me to truck pull and mud bogs, and there would be 1 or 2 MT's there. Usually Bearfoot, Bigfoot, or Frankenstein. Always had MT RCs, but never a solid axle one (besides a ground pounder for a week - not very good quality parts). This is a great platform for looks and performance.

My Wraith MT is fun but I dont get to drive it alot. (P.S. it's in the for sale section)
Yes, thanks Shane for the wheels / tires. I thrashed my original MG servo, so I threw in my 7955 TG, and all is good. Those big rubbers do damage on weak servos! I put a plastic servo horn on as well, so it flexes a bit, to take off some stress on the internals. So far so good...

Put a new shell on. Lined the inside with gorilla tape, since this Parma shell is super thin. The wheel base and width fits the axles so much better.

Oh, I have a vinyl cutter at work, so I designed the Avenger graphics. The full size black and white Avenger is so stealth.

Have we lost sight of what a Wraith is?

Ha, sorry bud. Didn't mean to offend. It has a full Wraith drivetrain.

Isn't the first wraith-built MT, and surely won't be the last posted in this section...

Well, I decided to get the Barbarian chassis w/ sways to replace my Ground Pounder frame, and homemade skid.

For those not familiar with the chassis it's made by Crawford Performance Engineering (CPE) who makes killer Clod hop-ups. He realized the want for a Wraith specific chassis. Thank you.

The Barbarian chassis is awesome. It was a direct fit, except I had to shorten the front upper links 1/4 inch to pull the axle back a bit.

Sprayed the chassis black (just a personal preference).

Also relocated the battery tray above the rear axle instead of the stock location above the esc. Just wanted to get the heavy battery down lower.

Ran it for 1/2 hour today, and it is very stout! The sways work perfect.

Very happy with Crawford's chassis.

Since this is a race specific basher truck, if a mod wants to move this to the "non crawler" section, I understand.

Notice the tray placement

Still a very similar wheelbase. Sitting at 13.25 inches

Rig is looking good. Been seeing this chassis pop up the last few months. Were the sway bars included?

Thanks, it's more of a basher chassis. Check out Kingclod's Bigfoot wraith build. That thing is scale! Wish it was mine.

It's an extra $20 for the sways. Well worth it in my opinion, because these things can be big and clumsy at speed. But this thing drives on rails.

As soon as I asked that question, I cruised over to CPE's site.

That's the beauty of RC a car or truck can be anything you want it to be. That's one reason why I love monster trucks, it can look like anything, a ninja turtle, Wolverine, the hulk, a tiger, a snake, a tank....... whatever. And I definitely don't think that anyone has lost sight of what a wraith is. The wraith in my opinion is the best rc truck ever..... and this is one of the reasons why. You can take a wraiths drive train and parts and make so many different rigs with it. Super awesome build!!!

Love it! I've always loved monster trucks and a Wraith based with open diffs seems ideal and should hold up pretty well. The new chassis looks way better and beefier, swaybars and soft shock valving! The pickup body and the 57 Bel-Air body look awesome!

Tedo, got a few bottom side pics? I may need to build something like this....this is what I was doing with my Wheely King, but it was not up to the bashing of a Wraith driveline so I sold it.
