Default Scx24 battery/chargers woes

So girlfriend and I just picked up two Scx24s and my god these chargers feel so fragile and I can not get the battery unplugged from the esc! Is it safe to charge it while still plugged in to esc? Also I have a nice lipo charger, has anyone been able to find banana plugs to the JST-PH2.0?

I got some of the ph2.0 connectors so I can make other batteries fit, the esc holds it tight but if you put your finger nails into the sides they slide out fine. As for the charger.. Mine lasted 2 charges, to charge just use the balance lead and I think it's 300ma max, but hopefully someone will give the right figure if I have got it wrong..

Wait... wait... you can charge via the balance lead? Holy hell I never knew that. 300mah max? Thanks man!

I’m in the same boat, my charger broke the second time I tried to unplug it. I’ve been trying to get a replacement from horizon, have emailed them 3 times, but it’s been a week and no response. I’m disappointed after hearing about how good their customer service is.

I’ve tried calling but can’t get through and usually have to stop waiting on hold to deal with work stuff.

At this point, I’m not sure it’s even worth it to try and get a replacement charger from them as I have no faith that it will last any longer than a few charges anyway.

So, with that in mind have people been able to successfully swap the plug to charge these? I want to charge it on my normal charger but am nervous to try and do it without a balance plug. My charger will only fit a 2S balance plug.

I soldered in a JST connector onto the stock battery leads. I have a JST to T-style adapter that plugs into my charger leads. Able to balance charge ( and storage charge) the stock battery now. I set the charger to 0.3 amps and I'm on my way. I've cycled this battery probably 10x at this point... no issues. Imax B6 AC v2 charger fwiw.

Thanks for the help y’all. A little update here. Horizon did get back to me after about a week and a half and sent out a new charger so I did get a replacement.

In the meantime I went about making up a connector like many of you have. I ordered a male jst 2.0 plug off eBay for a buck fiddy and then soldered it up to a female deans connector I had around and now I can charge it on my normal charger.
