| new guy attempts to build a decent wraith
Hey guys, I have already introduced myself in the intro thread. Decided to make a new thread/ build thread. Hope it works out here instead of the wraith section. I prefer the local section to that. Well my dad (who enjoys rc's) bought a scx10 for me. I didn't do much to it until recently. I went the four link route, got the crappy level 3 cms/pan hard kit. What a piece of crap. Went back to the 3 link. A couple weeks ago I was looking at wraith's and decided that would be my next crawler. I ended up getting ps wraith. After a couple days I decided to do some upgrades, minor that is. Axial wraith link kit Axial beadlock wheels Interco IROK 2.2 super swampers STRC steering links. Tires performed awesome and the steering didn't seem as sloppy any more. I went to the spot under neath the bridge near danger field and it was so much fun.....til I noticed a bad smell. Hooray smoke coming from the motor. At this point I decided if I am going to do this I might as well do it right. Parts on order: VP tie rod and drag link. HH torque master expert 35t. HH BRXL esc. CC BEC. Hitec hs7950th servo. Axial HD gears 38/13. Axial HD gears 43/13. Axial 87t spur. Axial universal joint. Robinson racing 18t pinion. thunder power 2100 mah 3s lipo. King 110mm Shocks. That's it for now, might be missing a couple things. Here is what state it is in now. |

Looks good. What gearing are you running? Did you put metal gears in the tranny? If not, you will soon...

I haven't. I wonder if r/c car kings would have the axial locked set in stock? Might have to make a trip over there again.

Time for an update. The motor and esc showed up yesterday. Wasn't able to work on it. Today I got it running but now I am hearing a clicking noise. So back apart it comes. Going to check the gears and make sure the mesh is good and also check the gears in the diffs. I am not sure what else it could be? I had a jolly good time sorting out the wiring. For about 45 minutes I couldn't get the esc to arm. Switched motors same thing. Switched back to the old esc and new motor worked fine. Switched back to the new esc and new motor suddenly it started working. Perhaps it was the way I was calibrating it. Only took one pic of it and that is when I completed it. Next thing will be take apart, clean up the wiring and add a switch. |
