Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Great job on that engine. Those injector lines look perfect. |

Thanks! While the fake engine and the rest of the parts are getting done outside the car, one more important thing has to be done: make it run properly! The cab has new mounting points(4 screws inside the inner fenders) and attached the bed on the chassis. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1728/...4d139975_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1730/...00860fa3_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1725/...9161cafc_c.jpg The bed tips to change batteries, that sit above the middle axle, between the frame rails https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1751/...18fc2c97_c.jpg And off to the trail!! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1724/...cca53c4f_c.jpg |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals You did a great job on making this build, copying the detail of the real unimog frame, how the springs attach is great and axle portals too.... The only thing id change is a little bit bigger tires for 1/10th scale look like 2.2's rc4wd micholin tires, the stock unimog tires is 42-46" |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Awesome build brother! keep up the great work! |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals A little more work on the engine https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1732/...dd5532fd_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1741/...527e2e0e_c.jpg Mounted it and the air filter. Needs a couple more parts to fill this bay https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1789/...944b6276_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1827/...4fd563f8_c.jpg |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals While the bay is slowly being completed, did something else: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1807/...82dd963e_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/895/4...5f3f96d0_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1824/...680c1b93_c.jpg This printed wheel is a copy of the Gmade SR02 already in the truck but thin as possible to fit under the bed as the real one https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1801/...17063fca_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/892/4...d52cf6e8_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1765/...694fd254_c.jpg Just needs a mount welded on the chassis |

Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Already had a fuel tank, done years ago and like I feel my skills improved, re-did it https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1876/...250a0617_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1861/...17e8a5f8_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1882/...ddcbf010_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1890/...1d0c82d5_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1887/...f733872b_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1852/...694aa459_c.jpg Not in the final position (hot glued in place). Have to come up with some kind of support |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Hi guys! I'm on "vacaciones" and can't work on trucks but I've got a 3d printer so can stockpile on parts to apply later I'm fairly new to printing and 3d modeling so have to start with simple stuff, like a license plate: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1878/...18a9a426_z.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1893/...e4f2504c_c.jpg quick paint: https://i2.wp.com/farm2.staticflickr...9720de9a_c.jpg A battery is also useful to fill the engine bay. This one it's not my design https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1879/...bf8a0f00_c.jpg |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Did more 2 parts to fill the engine bay: This coolant reservoir: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1977/...68c4b7dc_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1902/...33808a7e_c.jpg And upgraded my old radiator: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1957/...3cd53317_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1943/...073d55cd_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1930/...41345040_c.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1970/...e78edbfb_c.jpg After adding everything to the bay, will hide the blinker's wires.... |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals took this guy out: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4810/...1cca10ce_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7837/...bf1f23d0_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7850/...1b35d812_b.jpg Truck runs good. Slow, heavy and without a winch makes think twice in every line. |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Very nice work my friend! Turned out perfectly. |

Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals Hi! Long time without updates So, the truck spends too much time on the shelf. Took it to the trails 2 times in one year :( But, even like that, the truck needs updates, one being a slightly larger fuel tank and the other, adding a rear canvas to the bed, because it was one of my initial requirements, even before the start of the project The idea is to look like this: http://data3.primeportal.net/trucks/...p_01_of_13.jpg My current bed is fine but i've scrapped the idea of the canvas before because there's no way I can put functional hooks on the thin aluminum that's on the bedsides so I'll make a brand new bed for this purpose This time, I'll print the bedsides because of my current personal situation, and doing the floor and struture as before, with wood and PVC sheet 2 prints, 1 side: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c43caafa_b.jpg How the corners would look like https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...962e676b_b.jpg Giving some wooden texture to the PVC https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3c29d9c4_b.jpg Small nails to mimic round head bolts securing the planks https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d069ec2b_b.jpg Black for panel gaps https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9c2bf367_b.jpg Painted in a colour that should be brown but it's more like dark olive drab so it will stay https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4a80f57a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...705d04de_b.jpg Next is prepping the sides to paint and attach |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals That's 1 bad-ass Unimog... Love it! A canvas top will be sweet... and those panels are killer. "thumbsup" |

Thanks...this is my longest ongoing project, always trying to improve. Keep tuned :) |
Re: Unimog 6x6 with portals So, I've scratchbuilt a fuel tank. I think it looked good enough but seemed a bit small. So I've copied the shape, enlarged it a bit and printed. That was some time ago but today picked it again to apply some paint and did something else see the mounts below the tank? https://i.imgur.com/iAGQQxTh.png https://i.imgur.com/nf69Rovh.png https://i.imgur.com/SNDmCjzh.jpg Now it needs the metal mounts to the chassis and the fuel cap |
