| droop (shocks unloading) ? with some killer waterfall pics :)
follow the leader...JeepinDoug and Fatty turned me onto a killer waterfall it was my 2nd time out some of the lines were crazy. my rig currently sits @2 1/4, and got hung-up on a couple of spots. may have to bump it up to 2 1/2, and try again. one of the buggy owners, also owns this tube 1.9 scale racer. did really well with limited travel...bashing speed :P on very steep sections like this one, my droop setup would occasionally unload :( interested in any options for droop to help with unloading... JeepinDoug is running springs behind the shock piston, providing some additional resistance to shock-extension (upside-dwn). Either that or increase the shock oil...currently @100wt. anyone else running 3/4 droop, experience the same issues? Last edited by mr_manny; 05-27-2008 at 10:27 AM. |

Looks like a good time to me, sweet rigs fella's. Also looks like you guys have a sweet spot to crawl. This is why this hobby is so awesome. The only thing I can tell you on droop is, try smaller shock pistons, heavier oil, stiffer internal springs. Last edited by JUSTGOINGSLOW; 05-26-2008 at 09:34 AM. |

I run 3/4 droop in front only. Internal and external springs with 35weight oil. It wont unload on me on climbs and is very predictable. I did run full droop in front but wanted a bit more height and a tiny bit of uptravel.

I'm runnin internal springs to take care of ride-height. JeepinDoug hooked me up with some rcp internal-springs, which are now installed on the other side of the shock-piston to add some resistance (control unloading). going to test today...thanks |

Looks like a sweet spot to crawl. I also run 80/20 droop and like it more than full droop. |

Certainly looks like it's more stable and predictable. Nice work. JC |

That is an awesome spot.. I just barely got my RTR AX-10 and am looking for spots to run. What exactly is meant by a droop setup and what is happening when your rig unloads?? I'm learning as I go and it's a whole new sport/ new side of the hobby I am a complete noobie. |

Controling unloading is done with thick oil to slow the action or springs to control a lack of resistance. Hope this helps.

What you're referring to is more often than not the result of, or what happens due to the unloading of the shocks.

Hey Jake, The waterfall is in San Carlos. We'll be there tonight at 5pm. We have a few great spots right here on the peninsula, Genentec is another that we typically crawl every wed nite (link is in my sig). Mr Manny and myself have it on the calender to be in Rohnert Part on Aug 9th and we're bringing our gear. We're planning on getting stomped. |
