Alrighty, got the dimensions(18 1/8" from inside grill to inside rear). Stang Killa SS, what would be the best chassis from your site for the Hilux? I saw that you have a 16" and a 16.5". How wide are those also?

Also, which axles would you go with for a trail rig? Ax-10, T-rex, or some scale Toyota axles? or maybe a axle I don't know about yet???

THANKS for the help...keep it commin. I've got scale rc fever, and I want a rig...

You should pick axles based on the width that you want. AX10 axles are MUCH wider than the others that you listed...

Another deciding factor is the thickness of your wallet...and how forgiving your significant other is...

So if I was to use the ax-10 axles, the tires would be stickin out further? wouldn't look 100% scale, but as long as it has decent flex, I'm cool with the wider axles. I really want the Toyota scale axles, but I don't think I want to spend $400 on two axles for my first trail scaler. This will be my first rig I have ever built, however I am not new to the rc world...

No significant other, livin the single life..WOOOO! All my money I make is mines, and part to landlord

Well, the axles are wider, but depending on the rim offset, the tires might stick out further.

If it were me, I would sift through the for sale section and see what I could come up with for a decent price.

Hummm.....well, every build is different, but I find myself spending the most money on the electronics (ESC, motor and Rx).

I have been looking at the prices of things online, and they don't seem that bad to me. Most exspensive thing I saw were the scale yota axles.

Why do most 2.2 scalers use the TLT axles???

Availability of parts.

My scale build uses those axles because that is what I had on hand. Also, they used to be the only option a few years back (probably around the time I purchased the axles to be used in my scale build).

most 1.9 scalers use TLT's also. They're readily available. parts are too. Axials are 1/2" wider teh RC4WD axles are nice looking but $$$. if this is your first scale build (first build?) I'd keep it simple and run TLTs.

this is my hilux on TLT's and small offset wheels.

here's another local yota on TLT's with 0 offset wheels

another local with TLT's

They are simple. 8 screws to take the cases apart. The longest part of getting to the internals is removing all of the links, but that still doesnt take too long...

Hey Ebach hows your hilux coming along? I am buidling one myself. I am trying it with Wheely king axles which are very wide...so I try to offset it with 1.9s and thinner hexes.
Later on I will probably go with Axial axles which are slightly narrower than WK axles but would look about right with the original Tamiya Bruiser or Mountaineers.
