Question upper and lower link

This may be a really stupid question please help me understand..... Are the upper and lower links suppose to be the same length? And what would be considered close enough? I have just read some articles and they mentioned that both upper and lower were same length. What are the problems with diffrent length? I read something about steering and I do have steering problems. My uppers are about 3/4 shorter then lowers

The only "link" info I have is from full size jeeps, but when one link is longer, it changes the caster angle when flexing. For slow crawling that is not a huge deal, but with a 1/1 size jeep, it is bad at HW speeds. Also links that are closer to parallel will ride / run better. I would guess in RCs the same size link would not be a huge issue, unless there is a big differance in the sizes. then you flex will be limited by the shortest link.

Link lenth depends on chassis design. Some use equal lenths, some don't. Ideally you want the uppers the same lenth as the lowers, but it doesn't always happen that way.

Then you would want to redrill your chassis and make longer links. There isn't enough room to make them identical in lenth, so just do the best you can.

Not that I'm trying to deter you from buying a new chassis but...

The stock chassis can be tweaked quite a bit. Don't be afraid to experiment with it. Doing so will help you to appreciate and understand what is going on with some of the fine aftermarket chassis you can get from one of our vendors.

FYI: Going with a narrower skid makes a big difference.

Not entirely true. You can run stock straight lowers as uppers in the stock holes with one of these little jewels.

Axial rear upper link mount
