| Waterproofing Axial Wraith and SCX10
I just need to know if I am on the right track or not. For the Wraith. Swapping out stock ESC for Traxxas XL-5 Swapping steering servo out for a traxxas summit servo? RTV sealing the transmitter box. Going mud bogging after? For the SCX10 XL-5 ESC, summit servo, and idk on the transmitter box. |

Why are you swapping out the wraith electronics at all? And you know if you search you'll find how to waterproof threads |

Saw those threads, however I have two reasons for wanting to swap ESC's. 1. I have nothing but TRA connector batteries, most of which are 7 cell Nimh stick packs. Which the ESC in the wraith and SCX10 don't seem to like very much. 2. The XL-5 ESC is waterproof out of the box, and tbh, I'm not real fantastic with electronic modifications. Edit: I also have the battery connectors on the trucks swapped to TRA connectors. Last edited by blackn0va; 03-11-2012 at 06:16 PM. Reason: Clarification |

I have a summit. it's not as fun on the rocks as a scale crawler. That said, point me at an Axial made ESC that is waterproof? I don't trust my ability to waterproof something that can get hot. |

The stock esc that comes standard on the newer axial vehicles (i.e. wraith and all vehicles after) Is very water resistant, I've had them submerged with no problems, as are the servos, and the receiver boxes on the new ones are also sealed. That being said those are my expieriences using stock electronics. Although I can't speak to how many times you can do that as I end up upgrading all my electronics within a month or so of building/getting a vehicle.

Lol I run Traxxas plugs in my fully submersible rigs just b/c I've been shocked more than once unplugging deans....on my comp rig I run deans for the simple fact that I can swap batteries much faster. I just prefer Traxxas plugs as they're bigger and easier to pull apart when wet or muddy. EC5's are bad ass too! |
