| Need Advice
I want to build a tube chassis for my bronco body and I need some welding advice. I intend on welding the brake line with my little lincoln wire feed mig welder. What I need to know first, is this possible and second how thick is the brake tube wall so I know what to set my welder to? Any other advice or tips would greatly be appreciated. And by the way, I have no access to brazing supplies or know how and that's why I would like to try welding it. Thank you for your help.

Welding brakeline isn't bad. Just make sure to clean the brakeline before welding, as some of it has a protective coating on it that has to come off. Not exactly sure on the wall thicknes...just do a few test pieces to find the best setting. Just be sure not to sit in one place too long- brakeline will burn through REAL quick! You will also want to fishmouth the ends of the tubing to get smoother joints. This can be done with a Dremel and grinding wheel, bench grinder, mill, etc... Hope this helps! -Destroyer |
