Default turning a comp crawler into a scale trail truck

Hi there. I am currently hunting for something to build as a scale trail truck.

I have an XRAY T2007 that i drift, a M-05 that I race and a 1/10 (yeah right) Summit that i use for everything else. The summit is neat and really fun but I want something more scale.

i have the chance to pick up a Losi comp crawler at a steal of a price, $200ish RTR and while I realize that pretty much anything is possible. Would it be worth my time to pick it up start converting it to something like a 1.9 trial rig. Is that something I can even do with out rebuilding the entire truck? I have been studying pics of the chassis and dont see getting a body with an interior on it being to much of problem. Im just not sure about hub siza and all that for the Losi.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh and please dont link me to the super awesome Axial roller project in the classifieds for $175 shipped in canada. I cant see it so I cant buy it hahaha. Love all the stickies for people asking where the classifieds are

CLASSIFIEDS - A How To Guide

HHMMM......Why can't you see the for sale section? Just buy a star. You will save tons of money

Anywho......I really see Losi scalers and I am not sure why. Personally I would go with an Axial just because parts are so easy to get and it's just a solid platform.

The hubs are the same size (1.9 will not have a "nub" on the hex). Most people just don't like the worm gears that the Losi runs in the axles.

You'll need a ladder frame and some shocks to start.
A good set of scale tires and a chassis mounted servo would be nice too.
There's more, but I'll let you use the search button for the finite details...

Axial frame set:
Axial Racing AXI30525 Frame Set SCX10

Aluminum shocks:
Amazon.com: Axial SCX10 Aluminum Shock Set: 61-90mm w/7mm Piston (2): Toys & Games

1.9 Hex's:

Welcome to the addiction!

That is what I was thinking. I am forum junkie and a pro with a search button, I have also pretty much mastered google. I didnt see anything which is why I posted.

Well That alone makes it pointless to pick up the losi. The price for just those three on top of the purchase price and I would I have a brand new Axial kit.

Thanks for the reply's guys

EDIT: Oh would you look at that! its a star.... I had better find a kick ass trail rig now!

I started with an scx that had lnc axles. I'm in the process of switching over to axial axles. While I like the losi axles and tranny I've decided the maintenance on the losi equipment, reduced run time (do to worm gears), and the much larger aftermarket support for axial has me switching back to axial.

I have a LCC based scaler I built for my son. I personally love it and think it works very well. I did upgrade the worms/spools to the HD losi gears.

Technically they are more maintenance, but honestly a scaler isn't near as hard on the gears as comp crawling. Also going down to 1.9's from 2.2's reduces stress as well. Mine has the aluminum knuckles which had to be grinded some for the 1.9 wheels but nothing too bad.

The worms are a different feel and drive differently than standard setups, but that is part of the appeal. They work well for me and my son.

thanks :-) I I'm pretty happy with it. I have done a lot of work on it already, complete tear down and cleaning, allround links, etc. I think the frame is going to be a bit of a pain though so I ordered the axial frame kit.

Been taking lots of pictures, once it looks like something I'll start a build thread for it.

I have all of a sudden been thinking of selling my summit to give me a stash of cash to use for this hahaha.
