Default It's About Time I Buy a Solder Station...lol

Well being in this hobby for 4 years so far I think I am long overdue to get my own soldering station.

I've had my mind set on the Hakko FX888 just because it's affordable and cheaper than the FX951. I've seen enough of my buddies soldering/shrink wrapping and so forth to know basically how it's done.

My question is where to get good quality 12 guage and 13 guage wire?

TQ Racing.

BTW, 12/13 is too big for most of these applications. I usually run 16g on my RCs.

Thanks for the tip Jeremy...where in the world can I find the heavy Berg or Bully axles. You know I have a heavy trigger finger lol. Or should I go with an XR now that the price dropped on the kit? As for chassis I'm thinking BWD Wedge w/topper. Finally sold my shelf queen Datsun 510 cup racer so got some funds now!

The cost of that XR is pretty tempting. Add in a few basic mods (rc4wd gears and gearboxes, Shelby's brass insert mod, upper bushings) and electronics and they are good to go. There are plenty of people running the stock chassis with good results. Hell, IIRC, the guy who won nats last year was using the CF version of the stock chassis. I have a basic build XR (all plastic axles with the basic mods listed above) and it has held up well. I've let several different people drive it in comps (folks who had never driven in a comp before) and it performed flawlessly with no gear popping and no other damage.

Either that or buy yourself a used rig...
