I went to my local hobby store and asked a question about a motor he said the motor doesn't matter it's the gearing. Then why do they make different turn motors???? |

The lower turn means faster speed,10t or 12t. The higher turn means more torque and less speed,27t,35t,55t |

In a SCX10? Do you have the stock esc? How much money do you want to spend? Are you runninig lipo batteries? If so, what volt? |

hmmm, you should consider running lipo. It's a small investment but you get a lot out of it. I'm pretty sure the stock esc can handle 2s lipo. That will give you slightly more power over the NiMH. In your price range, I'd look at an Integy 35t motor. If you can get a few more bucks together, look into Holms Hobbies 13t-16t Crawl Master or a 30t-35t Torque Master. You can find them used here on RCC and they are rebuildable. |

The perfect balance eludes us all. Yes a smaller pinion will help a little with speed.

no, you'll need to make a bigger jump than 2t.

I'm not sure, I've never run that motor, battery, 48 pitch or stock gearing ratio... but if I was looking for a drastic change, I'd drop to a 65-70... but you'll loose torque. You could ask in the SCX10 forum... or try here: What powers your SCX10? |
