Default I took the plunge

Yep I did it, the Honcho is on its way, I probably will be back yard bashing in AZ. and rock crawl-in in CO. But now I got to figure out what charger & battery. Last time I dealt with this I had a old hornet you just plug in the battery and set the timer for 15 min. and went and played, now you got all different batteries and balancing to do. What is good all around stuff? I know I need ac/dc charger.

Tons and tons of good, all around stuff.

From my experience you can spend 200 bucks on a charger or 50, there both gonna do the same thing.
batteries are the same. but you need to figure out what you want as far as size, or how long you want it to last before anyone can recommend anything.

want lipo or no?
want to drive for a couple hours, or 20 min before recharging? <<this is more if you want lipo, not much for choices on NiMh

Check the SCX section for possible ideas.

It all depends on your setup and how you drive. But with a 5k mah 2s, I ran my crawler for way over an hour. It sucked as it was way too big for my rig, and I've since downsized. But you scaler guys can get away with it.

Check around and read up. especially if your new to the lipo scene. There not the most user friendly battery, but common sense takes care of most the worries. I aint never blow'd one up yet.

I run a 2100 mah 3s lipo and I got 1 1/2 hours and it still wasn't dead. That's on a superclass crawler too, mostl crawling though.

i've run my scx ,with a 6600mah 2s lipo, 40t motor, for a little over 2hrs. and it checked out at 7.5v when i plugged it up to the charger when i got home. depending on how hard you run them, and the mah size of the battery, you can go for a while..you don't need to spend alot on the charger or the batteries..use the search function there should be plenty of info..
