+1 Price out a 4200mah Lipo and charger. You will be happier with that decision. You can run smaller batteries (1200-1800mah) if your wanting. Full size batteries really are not needed when running a crawler. Also, when you start getting into the scalers, full size packs may not fit.

I personally run venom 1800mah 3cell lipos in my crawlers. I love them and they are cheap.

YAY, I made it to page two :P ...

More seriously, I am afraid of maintenance requirements of LiPo's .. I've never, ever owned anything with LiPo's ..

How idiot/newb-proof are LiPo's?

Congrats!!!! lipos are easy. They are actually simpler than nimh packs. They have no "memory" to worry about. Just make sure the Lipo cutoff is turned on with the esc and your fine. Charge em and use em as you would a normal battery. Give it a full charge after you buy it, then you can charge it to 30% and run it, fully charge it and run it or whatever you want. They are pretty noob proof.

When they 1st came out there was all sorts of fears and concerns about them. Well, most of those are gone. Don't tear one open, don't puncture it. Don't overcharge it or over discharge it. Proper chargers and escs make sure those don't happen. Most of them are in hard cases so the rest can't happen.

They are lighter, longer lasting, more powerful and simpler than their nimh counterparts....
