Default new kit question

im ordering a wraith kit or a scx10 g6 kit and i want to make it more of a basher/trail truck running on 2s
what brush-less system do you guys recommend it has to be waterproof since i like the mud and water i understand neither r sensored but i would like to crawl every once in a while

bash 40%
trail riding (mud and water) 50%
rock crawling 10%

i have it narrowed down to 2 different ones

traxxas vxl
castle sct sidewinder

is there any other options

I've never used the vehicle you are asking about but I have used both systems in a Slash 4x4.

The VXL is waterproof but the button is likely to stick if you get it muddy and then you are sunk. I had mine replaced by Traxxas under warranty but was down for a few weeks.

It isn't much of a slow speed setup, it is jerky and doesn't have much torque at slow speeds so rock crawling would be a bummer. It also has a weird power delivery in which it is explosive at mid throttle and tapers off in either direction.

The Castle SCT (if its the 3800) is a very torquey and powerful motor, it is faster than the VXL, more of a linear power feeling, more torque down low and was quite smooth for being sensorless. I never tested the waterproofness of this setup but I did have the switch go bad on the MMP so I just shorted the wires together like it was always "on".

Not being familiar with the Axial vehicles or their gearing options, the VXL would push a Slash 4x4 to 33mph pretty easily and the Castle 3800 would get it to just about 37mph without overheating but would make it flip over on a full throttle start.

All the above is based on 2S lipo packs.
