Default SCX10 problem...motor rotating slowmo on it's own

I was able to play with my SCX10 rubicon today, I played it in the construction site here in my neighborhood, it went thru muddy water and such. Had a blast. but the fun stopped when it suddenly moved on its own slowly like something was stuck on the gears or something. i took out the body and voila! for some reason, the wire of my roof lights got in the motor and the spur gear. so i went home and cut the wires for an easy fix.

i checked and run it again and it has the same problem. when i go full throttle forward or reverse, it will work for awhile but suddenly stops and does the stop motion, jagged slow motor rotation.

what do you guys think is the problem? did dirt went into something? did i bust the motor for playing it in the muddy water? or the ESC?

everything waterproofed by the way with marine grease

need help....

thanks guys!

*** EDIT/UPDATE: it was either my battery was running low or its the ESC. I re-charged the battery and re-calibrated the esc and seems to work fine now. will bring it out again tomorrow.

cheers!

Check that your endoints are set for throttle then try it again

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check the throttle ATL and/or end points.

But my first thought was Low Voltage Cutoff.

Sounds like lipo cutoff to me, if it happens again check the esc for a blinking light or visual warning that it has activated lipo cutoff, don't know what esc your using but I'm assuming stock.

That same situation can occur if the fail safe setting is incorrect and the batteries in the tx are weak.

thanks guys,

as i was about to take it out today, i had problems again. No throttle, or it's erratic twitching.
The slow movement was gone. and I can't seem to calibrate the esc again. Battery is fully charged,
new batt on the TX. I tried reversing channel 2, TH trim at 0 during calibration. still no luck.

here's the specs of the jeep. I got it second hand:

hitec 5645 servo
27T brushed motor
AE2 esc (Stock)
NIMH batteries (7cells)
TX is XP2SSi team associated

photo:

Do i need a new ESC?

Thanks again guys. cheers

Do you have another rc that has known good parts that you can try swapping out one at a time?

I can't run 7 cell NiMhs on my rigs, because the 10.5 volts of a fully charged pack registers as a 3 cell, and with my rigs all being in Auto-detect (at 3.5 vpc), the LVC trips as soon as I turn them on.
That's why I'm going to ask........ are you absolutely certain the Auto-LiPo (LVC) is turned off?

Should probably get a handle on what's going on with this one first.

I would first check all connections, make sure they are clean and making good contact. With the wet and muddy stuff I would start looking at water damage. I would start with the rx and see if it got soaked then move to the esc. As calderwood mentioned it would be a lot easyer to have known good parts to try. Otherwise you'll have to start checking voltages to troubleshoot the issue. Hope you figure it out, I would really be suspecting water damage at this point but hopefully not.

I have never experienced what your going thru but when setting up my buddys rig I read that the AE2 is rated for 6 cell NIMH or 2s lipo, (as we know) and if you want to run 7 cell NIMH or 3s lipo you must install a BEC. So that's what I did and so far no problems.

thanks guys,

This is my first and only rc thus far. I'll try and do everything that you suggested here tomorrow after work. I just finished cleaning it up.
will keep you guys updated on the situation.

Where do I check the Auto-LiPo (LVC)? I'll take photos of the TX/RX tomorrow and post it here.

cheers!

Quickest and easiest way........ CastleLink.

Not sure if the Field Programming Card works with the AE-2 or not.

update: i checked the wires and cleaned them and i was able to calibrate it. one thing is that i think i messes up the reverse settings. channel 2 is on normal on the tx and the rest on reverse. now the full throttle is pishing the trigger forward unlike before that its pulling the trigger. also the steering is on reverse, clockwise goes left and vice versa. it must be out of my frustration last weekend that i messes it up for i was trying to calibrate and putting the hannel 2 tab on reverse while pushing the trigger forward for full throttle? any chance i can get this back to the way it was?
also when i turn off the radio the motor moves automatically. it was not like that before. nut so far with that i was able to play wih it for awhile full speed, slow which is a bit of relief.

newbie blues. sorry guys.

ill go out and look for a castle link here in my area for shipping from the us takes a month to get to me here in canada for aome reason.

cheers!

*** Solved thru manual LIPO cut-off disable. ***
