| Best sensorless esc combo for Axial Yeti
Confused about the many choices out there for a good sensorless esc combo for my new Axial Yeti. Usually go with Castle but they have only sensorless motors even though they sell the MMP with Smart sense esc.

I'm confused do you want a sensorless or sensored. Your post title suggests sensorless but your question suggests sensored. The stock system is castle so you are off to a good start if you want sensorless. If you want sensored the best balance of performance and price is the castle mmp and a tekin roc412 3100kv. Gear it a little lower than stock if you want some crawl ability. The tekin rx8 is a great esc but about twice as much as the castle mmp. There are other good options from hobbywing if budget is your main consideration. The 3656sd (I think that's the right model) is a cost effective option for a 4 pole brushless sensored motor. The lowest kv is 3400 though so it likely will not crawl very well with the stock yeti gearing. I wouldn't recommend a holmes hobbies trailmaster bls 540 for the yeti. It's perfect for a light trail 1.9 rig but the yeti is a go fast tall geared racer. This application would generate too much heat for the trailmaster to handle. Dna |

Thanks for the reply. I have a Tekin Pro4 3300 sensored motor and the Hobbywing Stock spec v3.1 esc and was thinking about installing it in the Yeti. I was thinking though that the stock Yeti motor with the coming of the 2 speed option on the Yeti may work for bashing and a mix of rock crawling without going the sensored route.

Tekin Pro HD / RX8 GEN2 or Castle Mamba ProMax / brushless sensorless motor which of these two (Tekin or Castle) would run hotter with stock Yeti gearing and 3S Lipo packs . |

I just ordered the Tekin Pro 4 HD 3000kv and the MMP from Tower for $242.00 with the discount .My Yeti I have on preorder I'm getting for $369 in mid August if you can believe them. The Pro 4 should easily fit the Yeti but the sensor wire will need to come out of the top of the motor looking at how close the battery mount is. |

ok cool,,, looks like you answered your question in less than 24 hours if your order is already in... So how did you make your decision for the Tekin Pro 4 HD 3000kv over a Castle product... ? . |

The two motors are similar in size and kv ratings with one obviously sensored. The Castle 3150 Vanguard motor seems to be a 550 can motor so the drivetrain should be able to handle the Pro 4 hd motor.
