Default Crawling with a yeti??

I purchased a new yeti (my second rc) I also got 2 scx10s for my sons, so I tried crawling with them. It's the rtr so I went 3s (Because it says you can) I had a thermal before I got through 1 battery,so I did some research. I went to a 14/68 pinion/spur checked and regreased the axels installed a mip rear drive shaft. That seemed to help, but today the thermal went nuclear and my esc caught fire and up in smoke she went. So my question is has anyone been able to make a yeti crawl and how?

You will need the SSD 2 speed kit to get crawling speed as it has a low ratio first gear: 2 SPEED TRANSMISSION CONVERSION KIT FOR YETI

a good sensored system is in your future too. castle mamba max pro and a tekin roc412 3100 or pro4HD 3000 for 3s use.

I'm already thinking the 2 speed is the way to go. And sensored sounds good also.

Im fairly new here too but Id also think you'll want to lock up the front end with one of the many kits out there.

I did lock up the front diff by filling it with jb weld that seems to work good. Still waiting on my replacement esc but I think I'm going to 2c until rpp gets the 2 speed upgrade back in stock

So an update. I replaced the esc with a new ae3 installed a 10 amp castle bec,a castle fan on the esc and only got 90 degrees on a 20 minute slow crawling run. Happy with that though still nervous. And also had to replace the receiver as it got fried by the esc

You don't need a 2 Speed kit to make a slow Yeti. I run 12T Pinion and 68T Spur on a Sensored 2100kv MMP and it'll crawl all day long. I don't even run the fan on the ESC.

I agree I'm just trying to do it with the rtr motor/esc. With the bec,esc fan and a 14t/68t I've been able to keep the esc under 100 degrees but the motor is getting pretty warm,so I'm going to try an 11t pinion.
