You're gonna have to start out with some basics like how much you want to spend and what it is you want to do. Look at the terrain that is available to you and build something that will be fun without having to drive an hour every time you want to crawl. Will you be going to comps? Do you want scale looks? You'll need to do a lot of reading here to get the basics down, most of it has already been covered. Also check out the regional forums to see what others in your area are doing. It's more fun if you can join in with people in your area.

The valterra ascender axial scx10 rc4wd tf2 are all safe first rigs. The deadbolt is a good low cost rtr. But as others have said utube to see what you like and what you have a place to ues it on.

First thing I would say to do is find a local rc shop and hang out there a while. That's what I did and found out there is some cool people there and everybody is very willing to help and answer questions!
